she would spent her entire life telling people how to pronounce and spell it and even then people would get it wrong. Is it made up? It looks and sounds made up.
At risk of hurting people's feelings, but I tend to think all this Kayla/Kyle/Kyla/Kai type names will be very dated.

i dont think it is made up...another MNer has a daughter called this i think..its not one of my usual types of names that i like but something just struck me about it....it sounds doft and pretty...

perhaps Skylar is better....

I think its a nice name, but the spelling is a bit tricky for people to pronounce, your daughter would be forever correcting people.

Kyla is nice.

i agree that it's prettier and less dated with the C. i think it's nice, but agree about the spelling. but then we've given dd2 a nobbishly spelled name, she;s just going to have to suck it up.

Well I'm going to say the same as I would have said had I not seen clairey's post, as otherwise I wouldn't be being honest.

Bloody ridiculous (with the poss exception of you being forrin and it being a name from your country), and she absolutely won't thank you for it.

(sorry clairey)

Oh I quite like it pronounced Keye-uh-luh then, sounds a bit more classy than Kyla imo. Like Viola or Violet then?

If you like K/L names how about:

Calla (like the Lily)
Callie (Carolyn?)
Coral / Coralie / Cora
Carly/Carla
Carolla is often pronouned CAR-uh-luh
Camilla

It doesn't look like a real name.

Looks like it belongs in Up Pompeii or I Claudius. The spelling is just 'trying too hard'.

It's blatantly a real name and pronounced Kye-la. Does no-one study Latin these days ? The only thing I thought was 'Is that going to be pronounced properly?', which it is. It's one thing not to like made-up names, but to boggle at unusual names spelt and pronounced correctly is just conservatism gone mad.

And when she's older, she can go to Caius College Cambridge to thoroughly confuse things.
