Really like Corey but it doesn't go with dp's surname does it?

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:24

Nope sounds like you have forgotten to add on the surname

NotKeenOnFish · 03/07/2009 13:26

blasted surname

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:27

Could you double barrell it with yours?

Corey Lee-?

wilkos · 03/07/2009 13:28

i knew a girl at uni called coralie said the same way as corey lee.

so people might assume your ds is a dd?!

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:35

Although Suzanne Shaw's little boy is called Corey, presumably the surname is Day after his father.

Corey Day - that doesn't work either.

Or it could be Corey Shaw

Or as SS has recently married JK it could be Corey King.

ROLF at Corey King.

Sorry!

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:36

Therefore the conclusion is that Corey is wrong rather than the surname.

Nekabu · 03/07/2009 13:36

I'm sorry but it would be really easy to mishear that as corny or Coralie.

NotKeenOnFish · 03/07/2009 13:44

Fimbo it's definalty his surname thats wrong - doesn't go with any names I like!

I don't want to double barrell it as my surname is 11 letters so it would be one hell of a name to write down

OP posts:
Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:46

Use your name then instead of his!

goomum · 03/07/2009 14:13

I think it is ok. I like the name of the author Laurie Lee. It's a similar sound.

MamaLazarou · 03/07/2009 14:16

I think a long first name would sound better with such a short surname, like with actor Christopher Lee.

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 14:24

if Lee is the surname, than yes, Corey Lee doesn't really work that well, sorry...
so, indeed, as Mama said use a longer first name, or use 2 first names...like Corey-Aron Lee or some such thing...

NotKeenOnFish · 03/07/2009 14:27

I want to use dp's name as dd has his surname and one day we will get married and I'll take his name

OP posts:
Mammina · 03/07/2009 15:19

Sorry but I think you're right, it sounds like an American hyphenated first name

jellybeans · 03/07/2009 16:01

I think it is ok.

proverbial · 06/07/2009 16:22

I just don't like Corey, with any name...

TEJQ · 06/07/2009 16:40

Nope, I know of two Corey-Lee's BUT that both of their first names.

stripeypineapple · 06/07/2009 16:51

Perhaps it's regional but in London Corey means you've got a big dick.

Quite a name to live up to.

TiggyR · 06/07/2009 17:00

With a surname like Lee I would avoid any very modern or Americanised name - it could end up sounding a bit trailer trashy. Sorry!

Bonneville · 06/07/2009 17:16

I dont like Corey. Is it actually a proper name?

sonniboo · 08/07/2009 12:18

No, Corey Lee souns like Coralie .

Agree with TiggyR - I'd probably choose a traditional, classic name to be on the safe side. I'd also choose a 'strong' sounding first name.

MadameCastafiore · 08/07/2009 12:19

I think the problem you have is the name Corey is revolting!

JemL · 08/07/2009 13:29

stripey pineapple, it's not just regional - Cory is the Romany word for penis

TiggyR · 08/07/2009 19:14

sonniboo and I are obviously on the same wavelength because I was thinking you need a 'strong' name and preferably at least three syllables with any one syllable name. As you picked Corey I suspect you won't like these, but I'd go for something like:

Sebastian
Benedict
Orlando
Julian (I'm starting to really like that for some reason - is it back in fashion?)

simplesusan · 09/07/2009 22:26

I don't think it goes tbh, but if you like it then go for it.
