Alicia - pronuniciation

hello, what is the most common way to say this name - I would think A-lee-see-a, (and not Alisha) as the name is derived from Alice, but just wondered what your experience was?

Thanks.

Al- LI-cee-a is traditional - and therefore in my book correct [boring old fogy emoticon] but many disagree!

I know several Alicias aged from 4 yrs old to mid 30s, and they are all 'Al-ee-sha'.

I do also know an Alyssia (Al-iss-ee-a) and an Alecia (Al-ee-see-a).

I would assume A-lee-sha, but I do actually prefer A-lee-see-a.

I prefer the Al- LI-cee-a way

If you say Aleesha it tends to get spelt Alisha.

Should be A-liss-ia IMHO

thanks, hopefully if dd was introduced with a certain pronunciation people would stick to that. Am i being overly optimistic!?

Al-is-i-a

but I guess those of Caribbean or American influence might well say Al-ee-sha

When I used to read Malory Towers, or St Clares or whichever, in my head it was always Al-ee-shia but not Al-ee-sha

in the US we pronounce it A LEE SHA, I like the pronunciation A-lee-see-a so I spelled my daughter's name Alysia.

A-lis-ia - my preference, this is my daughter's name and people often say alishia, aleesha and I immediately correct them. Famous Alicia's who prounounce it differently have confused the correct proununciation.
