Is Angus too daft? I am Scottish, and my husband's parents are Scottish but we live in Birmingham.

A friend of mine wanted to call her DC3 Angus - we talked her into Alastair instead. I don't really mind Angus but can't bear Gus as a nickname; and if he grows into a hefty lad there is always the connection with the Aberdeen Angus...

Still, if you like it, do it.

Have a name you like. If you like it, use it. Babies names are hard enough to think of, without putting geographical restrictions on yourself. If you have scottish roots you should feel fully entitled to it.

Angus is lovely.
As is Aonghus, and Innes, and Magnus if you're thinking along those lines.

Funny - I also dislike Gus as a shortened name! Alastair is under consideration aswell.
