With our DD we had her named from the blue line on the pregnancy test (Isabella Rose - although mostly 'Bella')

This time around we can't agree on anything and we haven't come up with anything that feels right yet. So, thoughts please.

For a boy either:
Finn Alexander or
Leo Alexander

For a girl we quite like:
Eliza Matilda - dh less sure
and that is about it....really stuck.

Ideas/thoughts????

Our surname starts with W and is quite long.

Well not keen on Finn or Leo TBH but really like Alexander. What about Leon?
What about...

Henry Alexander
Issac Alexander

I love both Eliza and Matilda esp shortened to Tilly.

I hadn't thought of using Alexander as a first name - it's DH's middle name - so I will run that by him.

A good friend has a ds called Henry, and another close friend of mine lost a baby called Isaac, so as much as I like both of them, they are out. We like strong traditional names for boys....but the long W surname rules some of them out as they sound a bit too grand.

I love Tilly for short too. Only issue is that I am Australian - is using Matilda a bit too stereotypical??!!

Leo or Eliza

These are both beautiful. Matilda is very of the moment, but not that nice imo. Leo is a good strong classic name. Fin is a variant of a gaelic name. Nothing wrong with that, but bit fed up of reading "finn?" on this board! NOT in rl, haven't met all that many tbh.

Leo and Eliza are just edging it here at the moment I think....

Can Eliza ever get away from the 'Dolittle' connection though? That does worry me slightly....it seems to be the first thing that people think of. We could always go with Elizabeth as it's my middle name....

Finn and Leo are both lovely, as is Alexander.
Not ken on Matilda but that's just because i know (of) a couple plus another couple of Tilly's. And it makes me think of the film / story by Roald Dahl which I don't especially like, anyway that's just me.
Eliza, on the other hand is very pretty. I approve!
I think if pushed to choose I'd go with Eliza or Leo Alexander.

Leo and Eliza are absolutely gorgeous.

Not keen on Fin/Finn or Mathilda.

I don't think of it BellaMummy, but then, I'm not English and it's an English story (?). I think there are enough Elizas out there to make it not an automatic connection. If somebody calls her 'dolittle' she will just say, yeah, yeah.

I know of one, she is 6 and I don't recall her every becing called dolittle!

Why not go with Elizabeth and use nn Eliza?

really like Finn or Leo but would prob choose Leo. Would have been a def contender for DS if it wasnt for certain circumstances

I love Eliza. What's the matter with connecting it to Eliza Dolittle???

Leo is growing on me these days. And Leon.

Felix - I quite like Alexa to go with Isabella/Bella, but Alexia always sounds a bit medicinal to me....

The only Alexa I have heard of is Alexa Chung and I quite like her.

I suppose there is nothing wrong with the Dolittle connection other than that it is so synonomous (sp?) with the name.

I think Leo Alexander is now pretty set, so it's just the girls name now......
