Hi all, not pregnant yet, trying for a baby now though. Very excited, and DP and I have already decided on a boys name. We'd like to have a girls name planned out too. A bit sad, but each to their own eh?

We like the following:

Isla Jules [G surname]
Zia Jules [G surname]
Brooke Jules [G surname]
Blair Jules [G surname]

What do you think? Or do you have an alternative we might like in the same jist as those names?

Jules is OK, but something prettier like Juliana would be better and could be shortened if you had to. Dislike all the rest.

Not much to choose from but Isla is the best of a bad bunch.

Oh meant to say I find the Jules bit a bit odd but you must have reasons and that makes a name special imo...

I like Isla, but will forever remind me of that red haired girl that was in Home and Away.

Sorry, don't like the others.

Not keen on any I'm afraid. DD will always have to spell most popular Isla I think.

We also like Faethe, Caoife (Keefer) and Kaidi-Lei aswell. What about those?

Isla

Isla is the best of pretty weak crop (imo - sorry). PLEASE don't call your DD Blair or Brooke - YUK! Jules instantly conjures up a picture of the immensely annoying wife of Jamie Oliver.

Faethe? Do you mean Faith?

Isla is lovely

I think that if you are going for a single syllable middle name then it scans better with a multi syllable first name.

So Isla or Zia from your list, but I prefer Isla

Faethe is Gaelic. I like gaelic names. It means Honor and Friend.

Tiger- very good point! I see what you mean.

how do you pronounce Faethe?

BonsoirAnna · 19/02/2009 15:44

Brooke, Blair and Jules are all very unfeminine names.

Isla is the most feminine of the names you have chosen.

Zia means "aunt".

Well my mum's Julie but she gets called Jules. I wanted to have her name in there as I always said I would because she's fantastic. Julie doesn't seem to fit as a middle name, so I guess that's out? So I thought Jules? No? How else can I fit it in? Not as a first name by the way.

Zia is the name of a pushchair I think? Do you have a special reason for liking it?

I don't like Isla, there are hundreds at the moment so that puts me off also that awful sailing woman from the 70s!

Brooke is Ok but doesn't sound so good with Jules
Blair - no.

Zia is the nicest but as I said pushchair connotations.

I think Julia is pretty, or Juliet(te) - could you go for one of those?
