What could Elodie be shortened to?

After shamefully stealing the name Elodie from a thread on this website, it's now our front-runner for a girl! I think it's a name people will be tempted to shorten. I'm not keen on Ellie or Ella, so what else could it shortened to?

I know a "Lolly"- she is still a baby yet though- not sure it would suit a teenager or adult woman

I do think some people will end up calling her Ellie... but not for a while, if you get in there first

I love Didi for a nickname, it always makes me think of a hot chick in white gogo boots and black eyeliner

It's not that long - you could try not to shorten it. Lovely name by the way.

I think I would try not to shorten it since it's so pretty. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I wouldn't shorten it, it's beautiful. Just be warned tho that her friends almost certainly will at some point, and it won't be your choice....

Tbh, if you're not happy with DD being an Ellie or Ella then I would avoid it. My DD1 is an Eloise and I also dislike Ellie as a name, so we used Ella as a pet name instead - now she's five, she has some friends who call her Ellie, and sometimes she calls herself that too. And there's nothing I can do about it! So I think you either have to accept that she may choose those shortenings, or choose a different name. HTH

Elodie Anne was our front runner for a girl last time but we had a boy.

We had intended to shorten to Edie. Pronounced E-d not Eddie!
