I know, I know, very early

OK, so lets hear your opinions on:

Tristan

Evangeline

DP (and therefore DC) has a 3 syllable quite posh sounding surname.

Evangeline - lovely. could be shorten to Evie which is very cute.

Tristan - not my cup of tea but probably because i know a couple of men in their mid to late thirties called this.

bratnav · 17/11/2008 14:49

Oh, and DP likes Yvane for a girl

No. Sorry

Sparkletastic · 17/11/2008 15:04

Like both girls names. Do not like Tristan at all.

ForeverOptimistic · 17/11/2008 15:04

Tristan - Ok
Evangeline - No not my cup of tea.

conkertree · 17/11/2008 15:09

neither are my cup of tea really - but the world would be dull if we all liked the same ones.

Lotster · 17/11/2008 15:11

Hope I don't sound mean to say this but it's my honest impression, (I recently posted a girls name "poll" thread myself and got far more detailed opinions than I expected!), but Tristan sounds a little bit spoiled...together with a posh surname he could sound more so. Bit like Tarquin in my book.

Evangeline is pretty.

Don't really "get" Yvane. How's it pronounced?

thumbwitch · 17/11/2008 15:11

not keen on tristan, evangeline is definitely different! what do you think of Evadne as an alternative?

LazyLinePainterJane · 17/11/2008 15:14

I quite like Evangeline, though Evie is too popular round here so we discarded it. I like Emmeline though, Emme is a nice shorty.

bratnav · 17/11/2008 15:16

similar to Yvonne-ee vain

aha.

I am 24 weeks and have had a few favourites so far but am still stumped!

Hope it's clearer for you!

bratnav · 17/11/2008 15:38

Like Evadne, lovely

I like Tristan. Works well in German and French too .

Evangeline is nice but will no doubt always be shortened. Still a nice name, though.

bratnav · 17/11/2008 20:51

I have no problem with names being shortened, I have 2 DDs with 'Sunday names' already. I knew they would be shortened, so I just chose names where I liked the abbreviation as much as the full names.

RachieB · 17/11/2008 22:12

not keen on either,sorry

lastboxoftampons · 18/11/2008 12:06

Love, love, love them both!

In fact, Tristan James is our boy pick and has been forever (just got a BFP on Saturday, so we're hoping this is it! ).

I love Evangeline, but wouldn't work with our surname. It has lots of nice choices for shortening also!

Good luck!

bratnav · 18/11/2008 12:08

congratulations lastbox-wonderful news

cyteen · 18/11/2008 12:09

CoolYourJets · 18/11/2008 15:47

Tristan - nope.

Evangeline - nice
Yvane - vom... However Evadne is nice.

Poulet · 18/11/2008 16:35

Not sure on etiquette as I'm new to MN - can I add to a thread?
If so, what do people think of Fox for a boy??
