i have picked the names alison and grace for a girl. alison because i only have one sister and thats her name and grace because its the english translation of my cousin Gráinne who is like a sister. i would have gone with alison and gráinne but i dont think they go so i just want to know what you all think;

alison grace
grace alison
alison gráinne or
gráinne alison

Alison Gráinne.

I like the traditional-ness of Alison and the individual-ness of Gráinne. And I like your reasoning!

monkeysmama · 05/11/2008 23:14

she'd be ali g....

horsemadgal · 05/11/2008 23:25

Eek, I never thought of Ali G , ok I'm changing to Grace Alison.

breaghsmum · 05/11/2008 23:27

yep id already realised the Ali g connotations but im figuring that Ali G will be long forgotten by the time any of her peers are old enough to realise that one. forgot to mention that my son is called Bréagh ( pronounced bray) so i want it to compliment that aswell.

Doesn't really matter tho', no-one will have heard of Ali G in a few years time.

Lonnie · 05/11/2008 23:50

gráinne alison Why not give her a unique and beautiful name filled with meaning I think it is beautiful

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 05/11/2008 23:52

Grainne alison for definite

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 05/11/2008 23:53

or alison grainne

would steer away from grace -too popular

breaghsmum · 06/11/2008 00:02

im in northern ireland and gráinne is actually really popular whereas grace is less so. i try not to be persuaded by family as they always have reasons hy i should pick a certain name but i already ahve my reasons i just need to pick an order

Gráinne Alison - Gráinne is a beautiful unique name. Matches your son's name well too.

Would also not use Grace as its too popular...

LynetteScavo · 06/11/2008 09:20

Grace Alison

dinkymum · 06/11/2008 12:41

Grace Alison

clairebear88 · 07/11/2008 08:53

Grace Alison sounds lovely
I have not heard of Grainne before - is it pronounced grain??

solo · 07/11/2008 08:55

Alison Grace. Grainne sounds like a surname IMO.

seeker · 07/11/2008 08:56

We nearly called our dd Grainne (don't know how to do the accent) - but decided that the spelling would be too difficult, so went for Grace. She is now 12, and experimenting with calling herself Grainne - but to my spells in Grania!
