What is the most bizarre, or out there name (for you) that your pregnant mind managed to think up? One that now leaves you wondering.. what an earth was i thinking..

I suggested Zephyr to my df

I was very keen on Peregrine when I was pg with DD. Lucky we had a girl eh!

So far this time no outlandish ideas (or maybe all my ideas are outlandish and I can't tell cos I'm a raving preghead!)

DP came up with a selection of 'Porn Star' names - Misty etc.

And he didn't even have the hormones!!!

Umm, seem to remember that Calypso, Octavia, Honeysuckle and Genevieve made it onto the shortlist .

Actually I quite like all of those in an alternative rality kind of way, but they would have stood out a bit against the boys' names (picture the introductions: Hi, we're Sam, Dave and Honeysuckle Calypso Wellies...)

Genevieve and Octavia are quite normal names.

DH suggested Pixie. In fact, it's always him who comes up with the unusual names (Vladimir was another one), and he doesn't even have hormones as an excuse.

Oh I like Calypso. Ever since reading that Mary Wesley book with a character called Calypso. Hmmm [pregnancy hormones whirr into action]. Calypso?

Oh dear. I keep falling into this trap. These threads are for purging those Bad Names Which Should Not be Inflicted Upon Defenceless Children and yet I keep getting inspired by them....

I agreed to a name post birth, hormonal, and still high on morphine.

Changed it by deed poll when she was 4.

MarkStretch, you can't drop that out then not explain!

Mind you, guessing could be fun....

Hitler?
Voldemort?

(Yes, I realised she was a girl, so much the better for those names)

It's not that interesting!

Named her Olivia on ex-dp's insistence.

(Imagine drug induced nodding)

Never had any intention of actually calling her that and she was always known by her nickname. Was a real pain in the arse when she started school, her coat peg, drawer etc all had Olivia on and no one ever called her that.

(Imangine small girl with bemused look)

So changed it.

Best £50 I ever spent.

God, sorry, I killed it.

Oh that is pretty. I know someone who was named after her dad's ex under similar circumstances. Most people have no idea what her real name actually is as her mother immediately gave her a nickname and stuck to it.
