I love it. I would use it if we had a boy. It was my Grandad's middle name.

Where I live it is already pretty popular so I would not call it "different" (interestingly I am London but West End not East).

It was my dad's name, we used to laugh at it when we were kids. I was delighted when it made a comeback as a 'grandad cool' name. I only know a couple of boys called it and they are poshies.

Although I know a couple of dogs called Stanley, so I might have that association in my brain.

I know three Stanleys (I am a nursery school teacher). I would say it has a bit of a common feel to it like Reggie and Ronnie.

I have a Stanley who is 2y 6m. Obviously I love it! We are in Dulwich, South East London and as yet I haven't come across any others here.

The only baby Stanley I know is very 'well to do' so I wonder if it's making a reappearance at the upmarket end of the name game. Personally, although I like the vogue for old fashioned names this is not one I would go for...

IMHO I think its lovely, resurrecting a classic name, not chavvy at all and if I had a son I would call him this. I've thought about this since reading this thread the other day and I cannot think of a better name for a little boy. Stan for short is brill. Do it or I will kill you

I regret not calling my daughter after my mum who was Mary, but DD has assured me that she will call her daughter Mary. I will make sure she calls her son Stanley (after my dad).

Lovely name, was pretty popular around here - not a million miles from Dulwich - about 12 years ago. Know or know of several teenage Stanleys.
