What do you think of these names? Are they dated? Or still ok today? Baby due next week and we are starting to panic as stillnot sure of a name. Have a Charlotte and Molly already.

Dh has come up with these so at least he is trying now. Only others we have on list are Lucy or Harriet.

Please any thoughts or suggestions.

Of the 4, Natasha.
Lucy is nice, only know 1 (though is popular i believe). Know of loads of Harriets.
Don't panic, it took us 7 weeks to name DD2!

I love all of them

Talia is one of my all time faves and my own name is very similar to the second one on your list

I love Talia, but Natalia would give her a 'High Court Judge' name as I call them, incase!

I have a Talia, she's 5 and has just started school and gets so many lovely comments about her name. (She is Natalia on her birth certificate for if she prefers to use that when she is older).

nah don't shorten it Talia is a completely different name to Natalia, Talia is Hebrew meaning Dew from Heaven, Natalia is Russian I think linked to Christmas although I'm probably wa wrong.

Natalia is a latin name, widely used in Europe, and means birthday of the lord, hence meaning 'new life'. Among the names diminutes are Talia and Tally.

Report
funkydude · 25/09/2008 21:22

Oops ... diminutives ...

oh and you can spell it natalia, natalya, nataliya and nathalia.

Report
sweetkitty · 26/09/2008 08:07

The thing is some people will pronouce Talia Tal-Ya (suppose it would be the same Na-Tal-Ya) instead of Tah-LEE-ah which annoys me (my Dad is the worst and my Talia is over 2 now)

I have seen the spellings Talia, Tahlia and Thalia we decided on the easiest spelling saves people trying to put H's everywhere an anywhere. It's the feminine form of Tal an old Hebrew name not just a shortening of Natalia.

Your reserve list of Harriet and Lucy are much nicer.
