Go on then, what do you think of these? They are all characters from a Robert Jordan series, and I was reading some WoT forums the other day and was astounded to find fans naming there children after there favourite characters! Daft whatsits, but, could these names work? Would they fit in considering that we have so many unusual names these days that its, possibly, the norm?

You'd need a large birth certificate in order to fit all the names on.

And child would have used half the allotted time in exams by the time they'd finished writing their name.

Mat and Perrin would work, as would Elayne, but all the others are a bit out there. Plus how naff is it to name your kid after a character just to get some sort of recognition from fellow readers...I mean, I love the wheel of time books but if I meet you and your kid's called Lan - I'm going to think you are a twat.

(not you personally btw)

A girl in my form was 'Elayne' as a spelling variation of Elaine. Quite pretty and unsual.

Matt and Perrin (or Perry) okay-ish, but........

'Rand' might lead to 'Randy', and the rest are somewhat meaningless.

I like Elayne, and Perrin though.

Ishamael is the best one tho

I had forgotten Lan, that could work I think. His female names are not so good, although I like Elayne, and it looks pretty with the y. Perrin sounds like a type of apple, Pippin, Perrin, Bramley, fits quite well. Rand is dreadful to my mind but Americans seem to like the Randal Randy type names a lot.
