75% sure we're having a girl.

Have two daughters already - we got a bit carried away and they have three first names each so we've used up a lot of favourites already!

Possibilities currently are:

Clara
Matilda
Molly
Marianne
Talitha
Ursula

Our two DD's names also end in "a". Would three children all ending in "a" sounds be a bit of a mouthful?

Don't worry about the name ending in 'a'.

Is Talitha a name?

I like
Clara
Matilda
Molly
Ursula

Had a friend at school called Talitha (Tally for short). I think she was named after the 60's It girl Talitha Getty. It's a biblical name. I wonder if everyone would forever be mishearing it as Tabitha?

TALITHA
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Biblical

Pronounced: TAL-i-thÉ™ (English) [key]

Means "little girl" in Aramaic. The name is taken from the phrase talitha cumi meaning "little girl arise" spoken by Jesus in order to restore a young girl to life (see Mark 5:41).

Also love Ursula too.

I like Eliza

How interesting - Ursula is my current favourite. Clara is DH's.

I really like Eliza too but DH vetoed it..

Ursula was DH's grandmother's name. Great woman. Although I have slight issues with naming a child with the same name as an ancestor, first name and surname would be the same. Not entirely sure what my issues with this are .

You have excellent taste. My dd has one of the names on your list and if I have another her name will be one of the others on your list!

I like them all.

Why thank you ShowofHands! You clearly have excellent taste too

Hi Hatty

I love all your names except "Talitha" which to my ears sounds like a mispronounciation of "Tabitha".

My DD's middle name is Matilda and I love it. I only wish we had not sued it as a middle name so I could use it for DD 2.

I tend to abbrieviate longer names so Ursula would worry me as there is no obvious abbreviation yet it has three syllables.

ursula

ursula
if DS had been a girl.............

Cheers Artichokes. Matilda is so pretty.

Could you abbreviate Ursula to err, Ursey? Sula? . I guess it is more of a grown up than a baby name..

I think I can guess what a DD would be named in your house Minou!

Yeah, but we can't do it now, as it'd clash with DS' name.
I think i've given up on the Tostig idea, too....sadly.

ursula is so unique the rest are quite common now, all very pretty but it depends if you want a name to be different??
There are so many Clara and Mollys in Nurserys at the moment! Ursula is from a Shakespeare play aswell

Talitha is divine. All the better that no-one here seems to have heard of it. I wouldn't worry about three 'a' names either. My girls list only ever has names ending in a.

I am quite tempted by Talitha too. It's a bit unusual and very feminine.

And of course my daughter is bound to grow up to be the next Talitha Getty style icon type of her generation .

Had forgotten Talitha Getty died of a heroin overdose aged 30 though .

Perhaps not!

I always think of that classic photo of Talitha Getty on the roof top in Marrakech. So glamorous.

Oh x-post. Yes there is that. But I don't think many people will think of that when they meet your daughter.
