It is a lovely name but always makes me immediately think of the poor McCann family.

I know one little girl with Amelie as a middle name. I think it is very pretty and not all that common at all

If you say it in English (ie not with exaggerated French accent) it sounds very like Emily said with a vaguely Southern Hemisphere accent. My only observation is that it is a French name and therefore seems a bit odd if you are not French.

I prefer Amelia.

I think it's a lovely name if you're french but when I hear someone shout for their little Amelie, I think it sounds a bit silly without a nice european accent.

I love it. This was the alt name for DD, she got my preference, Amelie was DHs preference, although we both loved it.

My maternal grandmother was called Amelie.
