I like Enid the Welsh way, where the first letter is pronounced like the beginning of 'egg'.

Makes me think of Enid Coleslaw from Ghost World. Not that that's a bad thing. Still not sure if I like it or not though...

I think it's fine. Very unusual.

I will always associate it with The Worst Witch, but like it. Not sure I'd actually call one of my children Enid though as it's a bit too unusual for where we live.

Middle name depends on your last name. How many syllables?

I think it is fine - also liking Esme & Erin

This was in our top 3 for ds along with Dorothy and Winifred - although he was a he so we didn't use it in the end.
Would definately be high up on pur list next time though.
Our combo was Enid Violet.
I love it!

Ooh no. Not just old lady but nasty old lady, sorry, but I knew one when I was small and it has coloured my view of Enids.
Erin is much nicer and a little similar.
Also think Enid Blyton!

Like it, was my lovely fragrant grandmother's name - although it has to be said that she was never particularly proud of it...

How else could you pronounce the first E?

Report
CristinaTheAstonishing · 03/05/2008 06:44

I mean the only E?

Report
CocodeBear · 03/05/2008 07:43

As 'Ee' instead of 'E', Christina.

Is normally 'Eeenid'; can be pronounced 'Enyd'.
