I've heard of two baby's this month being called Amanda.

Potential riser this year?

Hell no. It's so manish and horrible sounding. And the nickname Mandy is even worse.
Probably doesn't help that every Amanda/Mandy I know is a utter bitch/rough/scally

wowfudge · 23/01/2017 18:44

You're not keen on the name then Expecting?

wowfudge · 23/01/2017 18:44

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/01/2017 18:47

I know two very elegant and classy Amandas, so I associate it with them. Love itSmile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/01/2017 18:47

They are never called Mandy.

Missyb15 · 23/01/2017 18:48

it reminds me of that friends episode when rachel say amanda- A-man-duh

Pluto30 · 23/01/2017 19:14

Not in my lifetime, hopefully.

It's an awful name.

Abraiid2 · 23/01/2017 19:19

The four Amandas I know are lovely elegant women.

WallisFrizz · 23/01/2017 19:22

I know several different Amanda's/Mandys, all completely different so I make no assumptions. I just think it's an ugly name so I hope it is not coming back.

MiddlingMum · 23/01/2017 19:40

I love those 60s/70s names. Julie, Karen, Amanda, Susan, Linda etc. They're all due to be used again I think.

I really love the name Amanda and want it make a come back due to the fact that my DH mum is called Amanda and she is so lovely

Stonewash · 23/01/2017 20:10

I like it and know of a lovely Mandy and a fab Amanda.

MuseumGardens · 23/01/2017 20:12

Every Amanda I know is saintly, beautiful and classy. Including myself. Grin

TheNaze73 · 23/01/2017 20:13

I've never met a bad Amanda

mistyegg · 23/01/2017 20:15

One of the loveliest people I know is an Amanda.

greeeen · 23/01/2017 20:18

V nice name.

TheScottishPlay · 23/01/2017 21:14

Not keen. Think it means 'requiring to be loved' which is nice though.

Joeybee · 24/01/2017 01:28

This name too me still sounds too dated. I can't imagine it on a cute little baby.

user1471700951 · 24/01/2017 01:47

I like the name.

I grew up with people reviling my name (a girl in my year, aged 11, was too embarrassed to even admit it was her middle name!), and now it (or its variations) are consistently in the top 10 baby name threads. There are two threads on the go in Baby Names as we speak, with people saying, 'no, it's just too popular!

If my name can do it, any name can make a come back.

I have a friend Amanda and a colleague. Both are immaculate, elegant ladies!

It sounds like the early adopters are ahead of the curve!
