It's a miracle we have got two names to consider, but wondered what people thought of them.

Beatrix is very English. I'm not a fan. (Not English) I don't think it has wonderful connotations for current generations.
Adeline...(Ahdeline, Aideline,Ahdeleen?) You are open to having to correct people in pronunciation for the rest of your life.

Personally I love Beatrix - I've always liked names with X in. Plus I like the sound of Beatrix, and the possible nicknames.

I prefer Adeline, but you will face pronunciation issues with it. I pronounce it add-eh-LINE (to rhyme with wine), but I've seen others pronounce it add-eh-LEEN and add-eh-LYN.

I'm not a fan of Beatrix. To me, it's forever associated with Beatrix Potter (not a bad association, of course, but strong nonetheless), and it sounds awful in my Australian accent. It is supposed to be three syllables, but we pronounce it with two: bee-trix.

I love Beatrix. I love that spiky final -x and it has lovely nickname options and a great meaning. Adeline feels a bit wishy-washy in comparison.

Adeline is gorgeous. I'd pronounce it as per the sweet Adeline song

Not the only song I can think of is Sweet Caroline!
Who sang Sweet Adeline?

I like Beatrix best. Strong contender for my dd2 due soon. I'm not sure about addy as a nickname for Adeline.

I love both and considered them for my DD. She has a very very similar first and middle name to your choices.

I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix, but Adeline is best of all.

Really like both, but Adeline is my favourite.

I really like both. I can't decide which I prefer, they are both lovely. How about:
Adeline Beatrix
or
Beatrix Adeline?

I know a Beatrix and a Beatrice - both are Bea to everyone, so ensure you're cool with that.

If you're slightly pretentioso like me, you could go for Beatriz, Spanish version!

I think you've got two great names. See what she looks like and then decide.

Bobochic · 14/01/2017 09:33

Adèle (a-dell) or Adele (a-day-lay) are so much prettier than Adeline!

Report
Bobochic · 14/01/2017 09:34

Beatrice is also much more beautiful than Beatrix.

The suffixes -ine and -ix are very harsh and bit trashy!

Is it adel-een or adel- eye-n?

Adeline.

Prefer Adelaide, though.
