Jonny or Johnny?

We have absolutely decided on Jonny/Johnny, so we are not looking for opinions on that just need to know the better spelling!

Johnny rather than Jonny if that's the name you'll be putting on the BC.

I'll bite my tongue and refrain from saying that I think you should go for John on BC with Johnny as a nn

Johnny - jonny seems like it should be short for Jonathan. Personally I would register as John, although it's no different to Harry or Alfie and plenty of parents put those names on the birth certificate without a 'proper' name.

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist it's going to be Johnny/Jonny on BC, that isn't changing seems like Johnny is the winner! I prefer Johnny, but was watching a TV show and there was a Jonny, so I was like "oh"

Johnny definitely. But I still can't resist. John on birth certificate. He'll find lots of people assume he's called John when he's older too

Oh well, there are lots of Tommys, Teddys, Jakes, Ollies, Lukes, etc. that will probably all be assumed, but it's a simple 'nope, I'm just Johnny' it's decided, so it doesn't matter how many people say it!

We have a Jonny, but it is short for Jonathan, so the h would be superfluous.

There wouldn't be a thread saying put Jonathan for John on the birth certificate as John and Jonathan are two separate, established names. Jon is usually short for Jonathan, however.

But people often spell Jonathan with an extra h. We have had Johnathan, Johnathon, and Jonathon when we thought choosing the Biblical spelling, Jonathan, would make it easy.

Johnny looks better I think. I assume you're having a boy, but if I was a braver soul i would have called DD Johnny like the girl in the Waterboys song. I'm not sure how that would go down on here though
