Annabelle or Annabel?

Stuck in hospital waiting on a c-section. Think we've chosen Annabel/le as a name, but can't decide on spelling.

DH and I disagree, one of us thinks Annabel looks unfinished, the other thinks Annabelle is fussy.

Thoughts?

I think Annabel is really pretty and really dislike Annabella.

Good luck :)

I know 3 girls with that name... one in each of my DD's classes and one as a teenager in my family... and they are all spelt Annabel..

I think either spelling is great and it's a beautiful name! (Congrats!) but I think in my area at least, this is the spelling!

Hmmm. Thanks for the responses.

I wonder marypoppins if it is a regional thing. Both DH and I have only known it spelt the way we each prefer!

Well, if it helps, we're in Surrey, and the three I know are local....

But DH has chipped in to say our sister in law from Ireland has spelt her daughters name that way also.

(Forgot about her! 😳)

Annabell?
I think Annabel looks a bit unfinished (also, Babybel) and Annabelle looks a bit fussy...not helpful sorry!
If you think there's any chance you'll call her Belle then go with that spelling. My personal preference would be the Belle ending.

That's a good point bringme one of the reasons we like the name is that is will give DD the choice between several options, Belle, Anna or her full name.

I think Annabel is the British version, Annabel let the American or French version.

Personally I always thought Annabel looked more elegant, less fussy.

Annabelle, I think that looks more pretty, but that could be because 'belle' means beautiful in French.

Annabel looks unfinished to me, but I do like fussy names.

My sister is called Annabel & people call her Bella even though that isn't even an abrv. She hates it! (Probably due to the fact she is quite tomboyish) I personally thinj Bella is an adorable abrev. So would go with Annabelle :)

Thanks all, seems there is,a preference for Annabel, but Annabelle would be OK too. I'm not sure we're any closer to a decision!

Thanks sugar I've another week in hospital though before the big day, so mostly it's boring at the moment!

Sorry to confuse the issue further but I would pronounce Annabel and Annabelle slightly differently. Annabel would be a shorter sound with emphasis on the Anna and a sharper, shorter pronunciation of bel, whereas Annabelle would have a longer pronunciation of the belle and would sound softer. I hope I've explained that so that it makes sense. Fwiw I prefer Annabel as it is less disney ish. But that is just personal preference.
