My partners friend from school, used to see loads and be in a band together etc... now we hardly ever see them, (I've only met the kids twice) although they speak a fair bit and love in the same town with mutual friends etc. Can I name our second child the same name as his 3 yr old child..? It's a classic but not common name.

Yes absolutely. Kids are unlike to know each other beyond early childhood anyway.

I don't see any reason why you can't.

I've known best friends to use the same name for their kids. Really not a problem.

I don't see why not. I have two friends from my sons' preschool. One has an almost 5 year old Alexander (alex) and the other is pregnant with a boy. She is planning on calling him Alexander as well. My friend with the older Alex thought it was great!
My second son Sam shares his name with a couple of other friend's son's (they are much older and my Sam is only 2). I wouldn't be worried by that at all, especially if they are a number of years apart age wise. I think the only time it might bother me is if I'd come up with a unique name for my child and someone else used it!

Good, thanks!
I figured it would be ok, I mean they are old and good friends but it's not like we see them all the time, and it's not a unique name. Just checking for a second opinion. Thanks
