Baby names

Natalie or Freya?

Changing babys name? We have registered birth and announced baby's name as natalie but to be honest I wasn't really sure but we seemed to have alot pressure to name baby. We didn't find out sex of baby till birth but I was convinced we were having a boy and had the names alfie or Peter for a boy. Now six weeks old and called natalie I think I've made a mistake and should have called freya. I love the meaning much more and just prefer it now. What to do!,

I prefer Freya. I like natalia

I prefer Natalia over Natalie, and Freya over Natalie.

If you'd consider Natalia, that's my favourite.

Otherwise Freya.

I don't actually mind Natalie in its full form, but I don't like Nat and the Natalies I know get called that. The Natalia I know gets Tali, Talia and Nia for short.

Both very nice names, but Freya is my favourite.

Natalie is lovely for a Christmas baby though. Smile

I prefer Freya but Nathalie is nice also. Why don't you trial Freya and see if it fits

Natalie is my all time favourite girls name and much less popular than Freya. Leave it.

I'm my lg name is freya so I'm biased. But I love her name and it really suits her so I think you should change it to what you love

Love both. I'd stick with Natalie though. I think it will age better.

I love Natalie and Natalia.

I really wanted to put Natalie on the shortlist for DD, but DH vetoed it Hmm.

Freya is a nice name too, but less so than Natalie.

They are both lovely names, I think Natalie is a nice choice as it's less of it's time - but if you want to change then now is a great time to do that. Six weeks old is nothing!

I also prefer Freya. I don't know of any little Natalie's, but I do know of 4 in their 30s. Natalia is nice as someone mentioned earlier, and it wouldn't be so much of a change for everyone

I prefer Natalie but if you prefer Freya then change it, and do it sooner rather than later so people don't get too used to calling her Natalie!

I have a Natalie nn Tillie. But now she's gone to secondary school, she wants to be called Natalie.
Too many Freya's round here.

Natalie is fabulous and unusual and definitely won't 'date' your daughter to a particular decade, if you know what I mean. She'll be the only one in school probably, too. Love it.

I liked the name Freya when I first heard it.
20 years later... hmm not so much.
Although it is a lovely name, it's becoming faddy I hear so many girls named Freya and the name will date.
If these points aren't an issue, then go for it.

Prefer Natalie.

As ample - loved it, thought "how unusual" - then two in my DD's class, 4 in my DS's class. V popular and suspect it will date.

Like Natalie - she is French - lovely said with French accent!

Up to you though - whichever you think suits her. Not too late to change it. And no pressure - that was the problem in the first place!

Natalie is a beautiful name, keep it! Freya to me always sounds wishy-washy, despite its origins.

Freya is lovely and so is the spelling 'Freyja'
Natalie is a much harder sounding name to me.
I,changed my daughters name when she was 18 months because I can't bare it any longer ! Do it now before it starts to really grate on u ! 😊

Natalie is perfectly fine. Tilly is a lovely nickname. or do like the Russians and have NN Tasha.

Freya is also perfectly nice, but not not so utterly unique that your daughter will miss out on something
