Opinions on Pearl?

And middle name suggestions? Surname begins with D.

Suggested it in front of some close family a few days ago, some said it was nice, others said it was too old fashioned. I really like it although my judgement might be clouded by hormones and exhaustion.

We have gone over and over names and nothing leaps out, we keep coming back to Pearl and Matilda but don't like them in combination so couldn't have one as first name and one as a middle name.

Our other DC have nicknamed the baby 'Pear' so the other reason I like it is because it contains the word pear so is a little nod to how sweet it is when they talk about 'their Pear'.

Pearl is a lovely name with a great meaning. It's one of the names from generations gone by which has become more fashionable again.

When they said it was old fashioned my opinion was that it's classic rather than outdated.

I love the name pearl! I like Matilda also but Pearl is just a gorgeous name - I know of a couple of Matilda's but no Pearls.

It's stunning.

I'd like to stick with the vague theme, with something like Pearl Jasmine.

But I love a dramatic name Grin

My mums name is pearl (I'm 31) and I love it! People always comment how lovely it is when she has to say it to strangers.
However, she despises it! Not sure why so not helpful Confused

Love it.

It's not classic in the sense it's always been popular. It IS quite old fashioned. But I really love names like that.

I love Pearl. It's my dd's middle name and she loves it. It was my dads mums name (I never really knew her). I would happily have had it as a first name but went with a different first name when she was born.

I know one Pearl in her 20's.

Doesn't work in my accent (Scottish - sounds like Peril). I associate it with Ruby which got popular again a bit sooner, but it's of that era.

Lovely name. I would mix with a longer middle name.
Pearl Josephine
Pearl Felicity

...she stands up when she plays the piano...

Surname isn't Dean by any chance is it? If it is Pearl would be a no no. 😁

Same here TheGirlOnTheLanding! Pearl is lovely. Peril, not so much.

Another one here with a dd called Pearl. I get a lot of compliments on her name. I think 3 syllable middle names or longer work best with it. Pearl Matilda sounds ok to me, though my Pearl has a very long middle name.
Pearl Marina I also like, both names associated with the sea
Pearl Amelia
Pearl Francesca
Pearl Rosanna
