It might sound a bit weird but most people probably wouldn't notice

If he is William then I think you can use Elliot.

Billy and Elliot - I don't know op

I suppose it would be ok if you used Eli

William and Elliot - ok
Billy and Eli - ok

Have you any other names in mind? Congrats on your new baby

My first thought was the film/musical of the same name but I don't think you should let it put you off.

I think probably not.

What about Ellis?

I know someone who had a DS1 Elliot and DS2 Bill. They are 15 and 13 and I don't think she's realised yet.

We have a son named Billy (William on BC) and our 2nd son has arrived, who we would absolutely love to call Elliot.

No, none that we like Sad he is known as Billy (he is now 7) so it wouldn't be fair to start calling him William, I don't think I'd want to, to be honest! Elliot is literally the only one we like! DS1 doesn't even have a middle name, as we were so stuck, so neither will our DS2.

I think you're right, no one would care Grin it's just so hard Sad

Are you talking about two different children? Or just one?

Get into the habit of saying Elliott and Billy and it'll be fine.

Report
ImperialBlether · 21/10/2016 23:08

I would just do it. You might get free tickets to the musical if you shout it loud enough and often enough!

chattygranny · 21/10/2016 23:10

You tend to use your middle
Name in life only when "full name
Required" so I can't think of a time when he'd have to say he was Billy Elliot. He'll either be Billy for every day or William Elliot.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/10/2016 23:14

Oh I see, I thought you already had a Billy and now an Elliot.

No, I wouldn't.

Report
Meadows76 · 21/10/2016 23:17

OP can you clarify how many children we are talking about here? I read it to mean siblings but others are only seeing one child

Report
AaBbCcDdEeFfGg · 21/10/2016 23:21

I have 2 children...

1 is called Billy (William) and is 7.

Our 2nd son is a few weeks old, we want to call him Elliot.

No, you can't. It would be too weird.

Enkopkaffetak · 21/10/2016 23:25

I dont think it is a issue. Yes you will get a few comments but people will get past it and after a while they will just be Billy & Elliott.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 21/10/2016 23:26

Oh, do it. The film is already old and the musical can't run forever. If anyone still notices the link, they'll only smile mildly.

I have a Tom and a Harry. But I love that, as now I get to say, "and their dad [my ex husband] turned out to be the Dick". :)

What's wrong with having a William and an Elliot? Or Billy and Elliot? They're not the same?

I did immediately think of the musical so I think others will too. If you go with it just get used to making a little joke about it like " I don't even like the film" or "we're hoping they become famous dances to look after us in our old age". People will comment.

Alternatively, what about Ellison?

Report
Willow33 · 21/10/2016 23:28

You will probably get asked a lot if they are into dancing but after that, most people will move. So you should go for the name Elliot if you like it.
