Probably the first of many baby name threads from me!!! I'm only 6 weeks, we have a DD and it took us a long time to agree on a name so wanting to get ideas early this time!

We won't be finding out what we are having so both girl and boy suggestions welcome.

I like classic and timeless names, but nothing too obscure or hard to spell.
DH likes quite traditional names (think Andrew/David)

Scottish names would be at the top of our list, but not awkward Gaelic spellings.

Hit me with some names!

Thanks Blue.

Not keen on any of the boys names but I did like Freya and Zoe when pregnant with DD. They were vetoed by DH though (as were 95% of my suggestions)

Gregor is my top choice for a boy, but DH doesn't like it. I also love Alexander.

DH likes Andrew but I find it a bit dull - every other boy was called Andrew when I was at school (or so it seemed) and where I live people with local accents will pronounce it 'Andra' which I really dislike!!

One of those girls names is very close to DD's name Smile, and another is my middle name. Coincidentally, one of your boys name suggestions is DH's middle name!

That should be Ailsa not Alisa!

Euan was another boys name we both like although I don't like the ambiguity of the spelling. We both have names which are often spelled wrong, so preferably we will choose a name with no question of spelling!!

Mairi is nice although is a popular name here.

Thank you soph - some great suggestions there!! We like Calum but the whole Calum/Callum thing puts me off. Same with Euan/Ewan.

One of your girl suggestions is DD's name so you're on the right track!! I also like Abigail and I really like Mirren.
