Alice. Margot still reminds me of Penelope Keith in the good life .. And I'm not even that old! Shock

Margot always, always makes me think of maggot when I see it written (sorry). And I don't like hard g sounds.

I have a Margot, I think it has a bit more sass than Alice

Margot is a fabulous name!

Margot

However depending on where you live I would maybe spell 'Margo', as many countries pronounce the T as 'mar-got' i.e. Germany and Scandinavia

Thank you for your comments. I'm finding them really hard to separate. I would definitely spell Margot with a 't' but do worry people would mispronounce it.

I'd love to hear from any older Margots or people who know a Margot to know how they feel about their name. Thanks again.

MotherDuck - have you had many people having trouble with your Margots name?

I prefer Alice. Margot reminds of a girl who went to nearby private school. We played them at netball and they would say Margot! Pass (parse) me the ball Margot! Terribly posh. She would be about 35/36 now though.

They are equally nice, but I would choose Margot.

Alice was top of my list if we'd been able to have a girl after ds.

Both really pretty, but I agree that Margot has more sass.

All the Margots I know pronounce it as Mar-got so with the t. In France it would be pronounced without the t. In the U.K. I'd spell it Margo to make the pronunciation clear and unambiguous

I love both but prefer Margot, but biased as our little one is Margot. I'm with you OP, definitely spell it with the 't'.
We've had no pronounciation problems, I think it's a pretty well know name.
It's a lovely combination of classic, cool, pretty and sassy. Oh and international but also very English. (Yup, definitely biased!) x
