So we really couldn't agree on names from our first list. We are now looking at these but what do people think

Hope
Thea
Rowan
Tabitha
Xanthe

To go with Grey

I love Thea! That's my surname too and that was in our shortlist for our daughter

I love Thea and Tabitha :)

All lovely names, I like Hope and Rowan best.

Tabitha!

Is Matilda to popular for you? Think that would go well with gray! Or arwen?

I've heard rowan a lot as a boys name

Xanthe, all the way !

With Grey I prefer the ones with more than one syllable :) All lovely though. Tabitha has a nice rhythm but seems quite popular recently, if that's at all a concern for you.

Love Tabitha and Xanthe. Xanthe means yellow, so it gives you a bit of a colour theme!

Xanthe and Hope are lovely.

Thea or Tabitha.

Really don't like xanthe

Tabitha is my favourite with your surname.

I love Hope and Thea. But I think Thea goes best with your surname.
Thea Grey - she sounds like an actress Smile

Thea Grey sounds lovely.

Everyone loves Tabitha atm, but I'm not a fan.

I like Hope and Rowan best too, but also think that "Rowan Grey" sounds a bit like something Dulux might make.

DD's middle name is Hope. It wasn't her first name as I didn't want her to be known as Ope. I guess it depends on you local accent.

Thea or Tabitha sound fab with Grey

Xanthe is my favourite name, but I missed the 'Grey' part, of your post.
Thea Grey and Tabitha Grey sound very nice indeed.

Or Tamsin? But maybe I think that flows nicely because there is the actor with a similar name. I don't see that that would matter, though.

Thanks for all your comments. We like Thea but MIL thinks it sounds like Leah which she has a particular loathing for. I like Tabitha but DH not so keen though I think he could be persuaded. Says he's worried about the cat connotations but I think it sounds a warm me cuddly name :)

Eliza, never mind everyone else, which name/s do you like ?

Report
PotatoBread · 14/10/2016 10:59

I wouldn't pay attention to what your MIL or anyone else thinks. Best not to
Discuss names with them and just tell them the name
Once DC is born.

What a lovely list! I like Rowan best, but I think Tabitha goes slightly better with Grey (both sound like they could be characters from a book!)

Thea's pretty too, but Thea Grey has too many vowel sounds going on for me. Nothing wrong with Hope either, but Hope Grey sounds a bit plain to my ear. Used to love Xanthe but have gone off it recently - maybe a little pretentious?
