So we really couldn't agree on names from our first list. We are now looking at these but what do people think

Hope
Thea
Rowan
Tabitha
Xanthe

To go with Grey

IrnBrufan Thu 13-Oct-16 20:26:35

I love Thea! That's my surname too and that was in our shortlist for our daughter

CEOD Thu 13-Oct-16 20:37:54

I love Thea and Tabitha smile

Yika Thu 13-Oct-16 20:38:58

All lovely names, I like Hope and Rowan best.

Strawberry90 Thu 13-Oct-16 20:42:20

Tabitha!

Is Matilda to popular for you? Think that would go well with gray! Or arwen?

I've heard rowan a lot as a boys name

Sugarpiehoneyeye Thu 13-Oct-16 20:53:12

Xanthe, all the way !

Elbi Thu 13-Oct-16 20:57:57

With Grey I prefer the ones with more than one syllable smile All lovely though. Tabitha has a nice rhythm but seems quite popular recently, if that's at all a concern for you.

Love Tabitha and Xanthe. Xanthe means yellow, so it gives you a bit of a colour theme!

0pti0na1 Fri 14-Oct-16 00:44:10

Xanthe and Hope are lovely.

PotatoBread Fri 14-Oct-16 06:35:44

Thea or Tabitha.

Really don't like xanthe

AmberEars Fri 14-Oct-16 06:41:05

Tabitha is my favourite with your surname.

Alexthekid Fri 14-Oct-16 06:44:50

I love Hope and Thea. But I think Thea goes best with your surname.
Thea Grey - she sounds like an actress smile

KoalaDownUnder Fri 14-Oct-16 06:54:37

Thea Grey sounds lovely.

Everyone loves Tabitha atm, but I'm not a fan.

BikeRunSki Fri 14-Oct-16 07:03:07

I like Hope and Rowan best too, but also think that "Rowan Grey" sounds a bit like something Dulux might make.

DD's middle name is Hope. It wasn't her first name as I didn't want her to be known as Ope. I guess it depends on you local accent.

Millionreasons Fri 14-Oct-16 07:03:09

Hope is lovely.

BellMcEnd Fri 14-Oct-16 07:09:55

Tabitha Grey sounds amazing!

sprinklesofweirdness Fri 14-Oct-16 07:15:38

what about Eva but not said in a way like wall-e but but like forever, Eva Grey would be lovely

Raines100 Fri 14-Oct-16 07:25:57

Thea or Tabitha sound fab with Grey

Sugarpiehoneyeye Fri 14-Oct-16 08:31:46

Xanthe is my favourite name, but I missed the 'Grey' part, of your post.
Thea Grey and Tabitha Grey sound very nice indeed.

DavidPuddy Fri 14-Oct-16 08:57:23

Or Tamsin? But maybe I think that flows nicely because there is the actor with a similar name. I don't see that that would matter, though.

Elizalou01 Fri 14-Oct-16 09:35:18

Thanks for all your comments. We like Thea but MIL thinks it sounds like Leah which she has a particular loathing for. I like Tabitha but DH not so keen though I think he could be persuaded. Says he's worried about the cat connotations but I think it sounds a warm me cuddly name smile

Sugarpiehoneyeye Fri 14-Oct-16 10:18:32

Eliza, never mind everyone else, which name/s do you like ?

PotatoBread Fri 14-Oct-16 10:59:22

I wouldn't pay attention to what your MIL or anyone else thinks. Best not to
Discuss names with them and just tell them the name
Once DC is born.

TempsPerdu Fri 14-Oct-16 12:46:50

What a lovely list! I like Rowan best, but I think Tabitha goes slightly better with Grey (both sound like they could be characters from a book!)

Thea's pretty too, but Thea Grey has too many vowel sounds going on for me. Nothing wrong with Hope either, but Hope Grey sounds a bit plain to my ear. Used to love Xanthe but have gone off it recently - maybe a little pretentious?
