I think if he has long hair he'll be tortured by idiots asking him to lift everything, and if he has short hair he'll get tortured by idiots saying "oh delilah gave you a haircut then?" or "I suppose this phone/bag/book/whatever is too heavy for you now".

It's a cat's name

I know a dog called Samson. Not really keen for a person, sorry.

Samuel is very nice.

I like it, strong male name, strong history, not at all common.

Samuel is boring and not the name the op asked for opinions on!

I quite like samson

I know a 16 year old Samson. No one mocked his name. He was simply called Sam most of the time.

I don't actually mind the name, but I hear Samson and instantly think 'and Delilah'.

Samson is what I call my dog so I instantly think dog. Sorry.

Not great. I love Samuel though.

I had a horse called Samson. I'm not keen, it sounds a little...dull. But I do love Sam.

I really like it, though he will almost certainly become known as Sam, which wouldn't bother me but may bother you.

I really like it. It's a solid Biblical name, and makes a change from Samuel.

Not really my taste, feels like it's trying to be different while still being safe, although pointless, as Sam feels like a fairly obvious and immediate shortened name.

My OH is called Samuel.. thought Samson (son of Sam..) might be fun !
I like Samuel too, but we have an older son and r concerned it might upset him to have not been named after his dad, but then his younger brother having his name ?

That shines a bit of a different light OP.
In that case I'd go for Samson, but he will, as I assume, be called Sam, like his Dad.

It wouldn't be a good name for a man if he grows up small and weedy.
It's a lot to live up to.

Honeybee79 · 09/10/2016 19:51

No, because of the whole Delilah thing. Samuel is great tho.

Well your DH has a lovely name then Grin!

Personally, I'd think of a different name, if I'm completely honest. Even if my DH's name followed by 'son' didn't sound ludicrous (it does) I wouldn't like to use it. There's something I don't like about it personally. It's somehow worse to me than just using Samuel.

I like Samson and I like what it means to your family :)

I like it.

I'm not keen I'm afraid and not keen on the idea behind it either. I'd worry that DS1 would feel put out.
Sorry.
