Hi everyone,

I'm new here!

We have decided on Katy/Katie for our baby girl.

Which spelling? I think I prefer Katie, DH prefers Katy... Blush

Thanks everyone!!

Thank you Smile

Kate is nice, but we are using a 1 syllable middle name, so it's a no and we do prefer Katy/Katie.

My niece is Katey :)
Sil wanted to be "different"

She constantly has to correct people over it, she's 11. Prefers to be called Kate.

Katy. Looks less childish. No idea why the Y makes me think that but it does!

Or you could call her Kate and just have Katie/y as her childhood name?

Katie definitely

Oh I see you already addressed the Kate thing.

Maybe Kate would be better... it depends if we find another middle name we like!

I loved the 'What Katy Did' books, so I'm going to say Katy.

My DD is a Katy, I hate the ie spelling, doesn't look right to me.... although all those naff kids things with names on are always Katie or Kate.

I'm a Katy and spend my life correcting people and explaining it's 'with a Y'. Members of my own family still get it wrong after 40 years. Actually, I don't like it at all. I always feel faintly embarrassed introducing myself with such a childish-sounding name especially in professional situations. It doesn't help that where I live 'Ts' are always dropped in the local accent which makes it sound worse.

I'm Katy, I think it is much prettier, I dislike ie endings.

Definetly Katie.
Katy looks like it says catty

I like them both, but know a couple of girls who are Katy and they always moan that all the personalised things are 'Katy'.

Probably not a major lifelong problem. But very important if you're eight or under!
