Baby names

Rufus, Ralph or Rupert?

Shropitlikeitshot · 29/09/2016 22:35

Those are my three favourites if it's a boy (due Weds).

Would you mind picking your favourite of the three please?

And incase I've missed the perfect girls name, perhaps offer a name that might suit me if I like the above?

Thank you.

They are all "R's" by coincidence btw.

Ralph, closely followed by Rufus. I have a friend who has one of each! I would have been called Rupert had I been a boy!

Rosie
Alice
Martha
Matilda

Good luck!

Thank you. I'm awaiting a barrage of abuse, so thank you for not slating them.

My current girls name of choice is Phillipa. Thoughts?

This baby will be a sibling for Henrietta.

And I love you. Had lots of negative feedback but you've made my night!

Think I prefer Rufus to Ralph. But don't want him to be a doofus. DH likes Wilf, so I just have him to convince.

All good but Rupert best to me.

Aw, bless you! Rufus is lovely too. My friend's Rufus doesn't get doofus but he's still pre-school. And of course there's the gorgeous Rufus Sewell we've just seen in Victoria! He definitely isn't a doofus!

Of the three I like Rufus best, but I think Rupert goes best with Henrietta.

I also like Philippa (with that spelling).

Rupert.

Ralph is nice, but I will always picture Ralph Wiggum from The Simpsons when I hear it. And I don't like Rufus.

I like Wilf when short for Wilfred, but not as a stand alone name.

Rupert. I prefer Philippa spelled this way.

LOVE Rupert, not so keen on the other two boy options.

Philippa is nice too, do you plan to shorten it to something in particular?

Wilfred and Rupert oh they would have gone down a treat at my schoolHmm Rufus and Phillipa are lovely, all the best for the birth

We have a little Rupert in our extended family.

He is the sweetest toddler and it suits him. I have come to love the name.

Rufus is my favourite from your list

Philippa is beautiful.

I like Rufus best.
Agree that Philippa is better spelling.

Thanks gang.

Would it bother you having two daughters with feminine versions of masculine names?

I like Pip, Pippy or Philly as nn. Pippa I like but prefer the above. Just worry that Pip is a bit tomboyish.

I've gone off Ralph over night so Rufus or Rupert it is.

I like Ralph but pronounced Rafe (like Ralph Fiennes). All nice names.

I too am due Weds!

Rufus over Rupert by miles for me! I only like Ralph if it's pronounced Rafe and people will always mispronounce it that way. Rufus is very cute. I love Roo for short.

Rufus. The one I know isn't called dufus.

Not keen on Rupert. Too 'try hard' posh sorry.

I know a Rufus, who within days of his birth has been called Roo instead, which I think is a bit of a shame.

And yes he's also called Doof...short for Doofus.

can't see the point in naming him Rufus if no-one ever calls him it

OP, do you like Rafferty? It's a bit less stuffy than Rupert and has a nicer sound than Rufus I think.
