I like old fashioned names. Currently it's between Joseph and Jesse-however I'm open to other suggestions as those just don't feel 'right'

Thanks

im in the same boat as you OP ! Boys names feel so much more difficult to settle on for me !
I Love Joseph, but don't like Joe , which is inevitable :-/
Jesse is gaining popularity (i know a few) , but to me it Always reminds me of the put down 'Don't be such a Jesse' ! :(
Names on my list (i also like old fashioned names) which i like but can't seem to settle on , and may be up your street are ;
Vincent
Francis
Hugo
Rupert (love for a child , dont know if it would suit a man)?
Elton
Jonah
Christopher (Kit)
Franklin
Good luck ! :)

'Joe' is what's putting me off Joseph too.

And I think of the 'stop being a Jesse' and also, any Jesses I know are girls. Even though it's spelt differently I can see him asking me in a few years why I have him a girls name- think Jessie in toy story, Jessie in Pokemon, Jessie J etc.

I like most of those names you both mentioned however none of them feel like 'the one.'

Why is it so hard!!

Totally know what u mean about 'the one' . I am rapidly running out of time to find it.. Do u feel like uve actually read every boys name in the world now ?!
I can think of at least 5 girls names id happily use, just off the top of my head. Boys names - zero 😭

To anyone considering Joseph, a alternative to Joe, is Joss.

All the Josephs we know end up as Joes. So better avoid it if you're not keen. I like the suggestions of
Stanley
Vincent
Christopher
Quentin
Dominic

Yes motherduck I feel like I have looked at every name. Most of the ones suggested are nice but I just can't imagine naming my child any of them.

If it was a girl it would be easy-so many I love!

Thanks for all your suggestions

I really feel ur pain !
Another nickname for Joseph (which i hdnt thought of until i googled it) is Seth, if you like that.
We are probably going with Hugo, as it's the only one me and the OH can agree on and i'm So sick of baby name books :'-/

How about an old fashioned name that isn't so on trend;

Percy
Cyril
Kenneth
Derek
Graham
Richard
Ernest
Howard
Milton

or another 'J' name

Jonah
Jude
Jack/Jackson
Jason
Joshua
Jacob
Jago
Jeremiah
Judah
Jevan

Or names in the same vein as Joseph

Daniel
Samuel
Noah
David
Luke
Matthew

I sympathise - we are in same boat - none we 'love' and a lot of the ones we 'like' are off the table because weird complicated extended families and friendships things and not wanting to use an existing name. Slight leanings towards Matthew and William (Liam).

Still hoping to find something we say 'YES!' to. Girls would have been so much easier. Still we've got 4 months to continue to search.
