Any thoughts on our shortlist

Baby due very soon.

Key things we'd like in a name are as follows:

1. Everyone can pronounce it when reading it.
   
2. Everyone can spell it when hearing it.
   
3. Not religious
   
4. Not super popular
   
5. It not being so bad everyone thinks we're guilty of child abuse!
   

Our current shortlist:
Albert
Franklin - concerned about rule 2.
Walter - concerned about rule 5 and Wally.
Robin - not a fan of Rob which is surely going to happen.

But then I'm not completely sold on any of them. It's not easy!

Love Franklin. Are you ok with Frank? Albert is a bit too 'of its time' for me - ie will have been born in 1915 or 2015. But that's just my own view.

I don't love Walter, but again that's just me. Robin is nice - from memory, the ones I've met have generally been called by their full name rather than Rob. You might care less about potential nicknames as they get older.

I love Franklin. I wouldn't worry about people not being able to spell it.

I don't like the other names.

I don't mind Walter. I know a young Walter, and no one thinks it was mean of his parents to name him that.

I don't like the others, sorry. Franklin will always be a turtle to me.

How about Arthur? Similar to Albert, but I prefer the nn Art to Albie or Bertie.

I like Franklin, although it will end up being Frankie (which I love but don't know if you do). Walter would become Wattie up here so I hate it for that reason.

Franklin or Robin. I've never known a Robin known as Rob, so it's not inevitable.
Have you considered Arthur? Much nicer sounding than Albert, IMHO, and fits all the above rules.

Thanks for all the comments. I wouldn't be so keen on Frank (or Al), but I quite like Frankie and Albie as alternatives.

Arthur is 37th on the baby names list for 2015 - there are two Oscars for every one Arthur, so it's still quite popular. Although I do quite like Art. There is a family reason we can't pick it. Otherwise, a great suggestion.

Off to google about a turtle called Franklin....

Albert is the nicest out of an horrendous bunch.
I like Francis but not Franklin.

I am seriously crushing on the name Franklin atm!

Frank/ frankie cute for little boy. I prefer the whole name personally :)
Albert and Walter are Kool , but I dnt think they r as 'strong' a name as franklin
Not a fan of rob either , never met a male robin, only girls

I like all of them! Albert and Walter are my favourites.

Albert - I like the nn Bert.
Franklin - People won't have a problem spelling it. Would you be happy with the nn Frank?
Walter - Primary schools often use the anacroym WALT for 'We are learning to...' at the start of every lesson. This would put me off.
Robin - I like this but agree that Rob isn't great.

I like all your suggestions apart from Franklin. Good solid underused names. Or how about Dominic, Quentin or Magnus?

I like Franklin and I have a 4 month old Albert!
Other names on our list were Dexter, Elliot (although this might break your spelling rule) Reuben and Max
