Baby names

Baby is 4 days old- still no name! This is getting ridiculous

Baby boy came along 4 days ago and we still don't have a name!
It's not like we didn't know we were having a boy either! There are a few I like, but none that I love!
Did anyone else have this? How long can I call him Baby!
I like 'normal' names, but not over popular. Any suggestions gratefully received

There's a reason you get 6 weeks to register a name!
And speaking as someone who was still having discussions with dh about ds2's name, in front of the registrar, as we were registering his birth 5 weeks and 6 days after his birth, I don't think I'm too biased Grin

The registrar did say we could come back for another appointment if we wanted but we had to say that as the office was closed the next day, it did have to be then!

We ended up with Toby - that I love as a name. And Edward as a middle name - several years on and I'm still none the wiser how we ended up with it, I thought it had been discarded from an earlier list long before!

Firstly, congratulations!
Secondly, I wouldn't worry about not naming your Son yet. Enjoy getting to know him. I've had four children and named three of them quite quickly, but one we didn't name for about a week because we weren't sure if it suited her.

Normal and confuddled, thank you for saying this. It's reassuring.
I named my first son before I had even conceived but don't even know where to begin now. The daily texts and messages from friends and family are not overly helping either!

Oh and I love no boys names so ds has a name that dh loves and I don't dislike. I honestly was so indifferent about boys names.

I thought you'd decided on Thor - or were you joking when you said Thor it is. I sort of hope you were.

How about my DGS's name - Finlay, or sometimes spelt Finley.

Definitely joking about Thor! It's a ridiculous name :)

Clive, OK not really Clive, please don't call your baby Clive, or Barry.

Op you don't need more name suggestions - I imagine youve thought of lots during your pregnancy and the last few days!

You just need to go with your gut and pick the name you are already thinking about! You must have a top favourite even if you don't love it. Baby will grow into its name.

Try calling baby a name for a few hours and see how it sits.

And just remember your first reaction to a name will usually be how you always feel about it. So for example if you think that sounds nice but a bit chavvy - you'll always feel that. But thinking that sounds a nice, sensible name that's got a nice ring to it then you'll always feel that too! So go with that one!

I agree, you baby will grow into his name. I didn't love dd's name, but it's pleasant enough, easy to spell and I have no negative associations with it. 4 years on, I couldn't imagine her being called anything else.

I'm with you. First son named immediately but second son I was late registering as on the morning of registration (6 weeks after birth) I had a wobble and had to tell the registrar I still didn't like the name and they gave me another few days. I went for Jack. Very happy with it.
