Baby names

Malcolm or Jaden!

LivGood · 13/09/2016 08:07

My dp and I did not want to discuss names until we found out what we were having. Yesterday we went on to the named together website and out of the top 500 names of UK and USA we have NO names in common. Unbelievable.
I scrolled through his tick list. I couldn't believe it.
Malcolm
Jaden
Adrian
Kingston

Help!

(My names won't be liked either on here from past experience, my top pick is Carter or Roman).

But his name choices are all over the place and I cannot think of any suggestions!

Malcolm is a great name

I'm not keen on Jaden. I know it's popular but it still looks like a made up name to me.

My dad is a malcolm, so yes, great name!

Malcolm is terrible. A middle aged man name like Derek or Neil. Absolutely not.
Jaden is dire but completely opposite to Malcolm.

Army sorry for saying it's a terrible name but it kind of proves my point. It's a dad name!

I agree that Malcolm is a great name and that Jaden isn't. It sounds like the kid who'll smack other kids in the face at play group.

Adrian is the name of an IFA I don't like, lol. Kingston I am neutral about, Carter and Roman are fine.

Malcolm is awful and there are a few Jaden's in my son's year at school (year 1) they are "spirtited" kids.

One of the little 5yr old darlings is now banned from this house.

I get you OP. I don't hate either of them, but how can you possibly come to a meeting of minds with someone who has both those names on the same list!? He's probably capable of coming up with Ptolomy or Tyson or Table next.

My 1 year old is called Malcolm. He's lovely.

Kingston is okay-ish. I quite like Kingsley, which is similar.

Don't worry overly much. If his names are so much "all over the place", he's sure to come up with some you like, and vice versa.

Not keen on Malcolm or Jaden really, prefer your names! Good luck!

LivGood There's nothing wrong with a "dad name". Maybe my son will be a dad. He's likely to have many more years as a grown up than a child!

Malcolm, Adrian and Roman I really like. Mal is a cool nickname! So is Ade. Jaden and the others I'm really not very keen on.

There is a real mish-mash of styles going on! Good luck meeting somewhere in the middle... And congratulations!

I like Malcolm, think Mal is a great Nickname. Not keen on the others. Its quite an eclectic list

Jayden is a better spelling, imho. I understand it's in the Old Testament.

Go around all your male relatives (both sides) & friends and see if any names are at least ok for both of you. If you can't have a name you love, maybe you can have one that has good sentimental value.

Definitely Malcolm, good solid name.
Prefer the nick name Mac.

Excuse me, but Malcolm is cool - what about Captain Mal Reyonlds from Firefly?! You don't get much cooler than him, no sir.

Also, I do really like Roman.

I don't like Malcom but I really like Mal. Don't like any of the other suggestions! Keep ploughing on, your tastes will cross eventually. You both seem to have American tastes to me, maybe watch a film you like and then study the credits for name suggestions?!

Just to say I don't want to offend anyone. I was saying the names to show that they are completely different in terms of taste. But his suggestions are not even up for discussion.

Malcolm isn't to my taste but is fine. Adrian the same. Jayden is awful and Kingston is in Jamaica. Hilarious thought though.

Malcolm definitely 😊 nt a fan of names like Kingston and kayden, they r 'naughty boy' names IMO , sorry !

Malcolm ois a d name for an adult.
Its easy to forget that you're actually naming an adult and not a baby. Their young for a small part of life, they're adults much longer.
A 40yr old Malcolm type name is much better that a 40 year old Baby Blue Precious Teddy Ruxpin type name.

/jayden * funnily enuf my son was teased by an awful boy named kayden!

There are some names that can carry a child through but Malcolm is on a par with Nigel! I really don't like Malcolm can you tell Grin

Jayden is a naughty boy name, sorry.

Malcolm I actually really like, but it is a bit of a dad name - however, that generation of names might be due a Renaissance so you could just be ahead of the curve!

Not keen on Kingston, but how about Kingsley?
