I like Nikodem.

It's a strong name.

How are they pronounced?

I like Nikodem for it's ease of pronunciation for me, but I can't imagine how the others sound. I'm sure they're lovely, though.

Google tells me those are Polish names. I think Ksawery might be a bit too difficult in the UK. I quite like Nikodem. Niko is a nice nickname. How is Seweryn pronounced? Is it Sev-er-yn?

I am not familiar with those names, but always loved the nn "Niko" (came across it in a fantasy book) so would go for Nikodem.

Nicotine and sewers come to mind. Unusual choices.

Not familiar with these names or their pronunciations. I have always loved the Polish name Casimir however.

Nikodem is the one that translates best into English I think, it's a nice name and he can use Nick when he's older if he wants.

Is Ksawery pronounced a bit like Xavery? So is equivalent to Xavier?
I like it in principle but may be too hard to pronounce in the UK from that spelling - can it be spelled with an X at all?
Some friends used Javier for their son (she is Spanish) but decided to spell it Xavier to be a bit easier for non-Spanish speakers (it's a possible but less common spelling in Spanish).

Do you live in the UK Leatherr?

If you do, I think Nikodem works best, also love the shortening Niko.

Report
Leatherr · 03/09/2016 20:57

Yes it is English version Xavier Smile

Nikodem works best in English, I think. It's a great name - dashing and glamorous but easily shortened to plain Nik if your boy wants something a bit plainer.

If your long term plans are a life in the UK then I'd go for Nikodem. It's a lovely name.

I love Seweryn. Never heard it before but I think it would be difficult in the UK. Sewer-in I think most would pronounce it. I'm Welsh so would read it as Se werrin
Nikodem it is!

Nikodem is great. I like the pronounciation of Seweryn but not how it looks written down.

Nikodem is the best. Seweryn will be mispronounced as Soo-wer-in and I read Ksawery like cassowary, the Australian bird that could rip your throat out.

Niko is a great nickname.
