Hi
I am due on Friday and we don't have a name yet. I am having a girl. We have been calling her freddy (the foetus) since i got pregnant and i can imagine that we will end up calling her freddy if we aren't careful because we are really struggling to come up with any names we actually really like. I don't know if its partly because we are both first time parents and the whole baby appearing is still a bit surreal (not sure if anyone else was the same!).

Names we like a bit are victoria, elizabeth, ada, edith, and evelyn. We don't love any though and i can't imagine calling the baby any of these names.
People keep asking us if we have a name for her yet. Everyone seems convinced that we have chosen a name but are just keeping it secret which is really not the case at all!
Any suggestions from anyone else?
Or do you think it will be easier to name her once she's arrived?

Thanks :)

We didn't find out what we were having so us to come up with two names! By the one she was born will still us no name.... And a week after she still is no name.... For me personally it helped to see her and give her a name that she suited. Don't worry about it ok much, it's ok not to have a name until you meet her

My eldest was a week old before she had a name. I would say don't rush into it though, I felt desperate to give her a name so agreed to my DHs suggestion that I wasn't that fussed on really. It's her now and I love it but at the time we rushed to tell people and I was still unsure but it felt too late to change it.

If you're like me, any and all name ideas you had previous to the birth will go out the window as soon as she's born!

From your list I like Ada and Edith.

If you are already calling her Freddy, how about Francesca with Frankie as her nn?

(Although I kinda love Freddy for a girl 😯) Frederica is a mouthful though isn't it.

Hopefully she'll name herself. You'll be surprised how many babies do that.
My sister's friend was going to call her ds Joseph, but. She went with Elliot.
She said. As soon as he was born. He just had Elliot written all over him.

Do you like any of the variations of Elizabeth eg Libby, Beth, Bethan?

There's no rule that babies need to have a name before they are born!!! I think it will all come together with the name that seems just right for her once she arrives.

If you like Edith, would you consider Eden or Eleanor?

As for Victoria, in Greek mythology Niki is the goddess of victory, so you may like that. Smile

I was also going to suggest Frida or Frieda with Freddy as a nickname :) (also with a due date on a Friday, Frida is perfect! Haha)

I like Ada and Elizabeth from your list, but as others have said, perhaps she will name herself? Don't stress when people press you for a name, wait to announce it till you're ready :)
