I like it too! Pronunciation could be an issue, though - the little Khalids I've met have pronounced it KHA-lid with a hard kh but I tend to hear ka-LEED more often from nursery staff, etc.

I like it, hard for people to pronounce who don't speak Arabic though so depends how bothered you would be by hearing it said wrong

It is ok. If you want a similar Arabic boys name, how about Qasim (kas-seem)? Love that name.

Could you provide us with your other choices ?

I've never heard of it and have no idea from looking at it if you are planning on using it for a boy or girl. I wouldn't know how to pronounce it and if someone told me it I doubt I'd spell it right. Just bear in mind if you use it your child will probably spend their life telling people how to pronounce and spell their name.

There was a really cute presenter on Look North when I was growing up called Khalid Aziz so I have really fond connotations

Iamcheeseman it may depend where you are from in the country. I think it's a perfectly ordinary name and would know how to spell it.

OP I think it's a great name. IIRC it means "eternal" doesn't it?

Isn't it a name of Muslim heritage?

neolara · 25/08/2016 20:57

My best friend when I was 5 was Khalid. So I like it a lot.

It's a lovely name. It's also Muslim, so a little random if your other dcs are Benedict and Priti.
