Baby names

Georgia, Georgina or Georgette?

What are your thoughts on each?

I like quite classic names, and thinking of either Lucille, Martha or Elizabeth (family names) as a middle name (some combinations go better than others).

Georgina probably most classic, but I think I prefer Georgia.

Georgia Elizabeth for me!

How about Georgiana?

I love Georgiana Lucille

Georgina Elizabeth or Georgina Lucille.

Georgia and Georgette both sound a bit masculine to my ears.

Georgina by a mile.
Georgia is far less classy and a real mouthful.
Georgina Elizabeth or Georgina Lucille ( at a push).
Martha is dreadful.

Georgiana is nice but a bit of a mouthful.

Georgina is the only one of those that I consider a classic type of name, along with Georgiana.

I'm not too keen on the others - Georgia makes me think of the US state, while Georgette is a fabric.

Georgina Elizabeth is lovely.

Georgia and Georgina are nicer than Georgette in my opinion.

Georgette sounds like some sort of man-made material to me. Like flannelette Blush

Georgia Elizabeth definitely.

I love Georgia - I think it's a beautiful name.

I think Georgina gets shortened to Gina a lot.....which I don't think I'd be too keen on!

My vote goes to Georgia Elizabeth. Smile

Georgina is the only one of those three names that is "classic" (or retro). I quite like Georgia too, Georgette brings to mind courgette and curtains!

Thanks for the thoughts!

Yes Georgette is my least favourite of the three. Only thing that puts me off Georgina is the idea of people yelling Georgeeeeeeeennnnaaaaaa. I'm mainly torn between Georgia and Georgina. Hadn't heard of Georgiana.

Also like the idea of Persephone as a middle name but DH's reaction of " Confused what the fuck is that" means that's off the list

I don't like Georgette. I always find names with ette on the end very harsh.
Georgina is a nice name, vbut even if I was blessed with 20 dds I wouldn't have it.
Again Georgia is very pretty, but the same applies.
How about Georganne/a. Do you like that.
All of them can be shorted to Georgie if that's what she wants

Georgette is a dress-making fabric! A fine voile like material. Nice but not something to call a person!

Of the others, only Georgina is really "classic" and then one would spell it as Georgiana to be really properly classic. It's pronounced as either

Georgee-arna

Or

Georgee-ayna

But in most contexts of most people's ordinary lives, either way could sound a tad pretentious.

Georgina is my favourite and it has a choice of nicknames - Georgie or Gina
I do like Georgia as well, but Georgina is slightly classier and more traditional so has the edge I think.

Not keen on Georgette. Georgiana is quite nice, but a bit of a mouthful, as a pp said. It also has pronunciation issues.

Georgia is a bit too popular TBQ. And it's a bit 'hard' - not beautiful at all.

Go for Georgina or Georgiana - you won't regret it.

Georgiana is pronounced Jor-JANE-a, but will probably always get Jor-ji-AH-na.

I like Georgette, because of Georgette Heyer.

I dislike Georgina. I have a feeling I knew someone when I was at school that I didn't like allied that, so it's probably just unreasonable prejudice.

When I was in my late teens, early 20s, (so about 30 years ago) Georgia seemed unbelievably cool (Georgia on my mind) but it's been used a lot since then, so it's lost that vibe for me, now. It's okay, though.
