Oh, there's not only one - what about Elton Welsby? Is he still around?

Loyly Thu 11-Aug-16 20:46:46

I don't think it's a good idea, sorry.

I'm not feeling it, lol

Nope.

It is a nice name but I do think most people will probably think of Elton John, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but may become annoying in the future. Mind you will people of DS's generation still know who Elton John is? He won't be current anyway.

Interestingly Elton isn't even Elton John's given name. He was born Reginald ( I had to google this, I'm not a super fan or anything)

Your OH is right.

No way, don't do it.

My immediate thought was Elton in Clueless, didn't think of Elton John at all!

Will children know or care about Elton John?

HoratioNightboy Thu 11-Aug-16 23:17:51

I used to have a teenage crush on Elton Welsby so he was my first thought!

Sophronia Thu 11-Aug-16 23:22:45

I prefer Alton

DesolateWaist Thu 11-Aug-16 23:25:29

I know two Eltons.
The name has never sat well with me.

MouldyPeach Thu 11-Aug-16 23:26:59

I know a man called Elton, so when I hear the name I think of him, not Mr John. This will happen if you call your son Elton, it will just become him and who cares if other people think of Elton John? Names are meant to be shared!
