Honest opinions on the following names for our baby boy

y husband and I are expecting a baby boy later this year. We are both born and raised in London and have Turkish parents. We are thinking of giving our baby a Turksih name but only if it sounds good and is easily pronounced by non-Turkish speakers here in England.

We have gone through every potential turkish name there is and these are the only ones we really like. It would be helpful to us if you could explain why you like or dislike a name as well as we are gathering as much details as we can.

Our front runners are:

Levent (Leh-Vent)

Emre (Em-Ray/Rey)

Another two are on the list are:

Evren (Eh-Vren)

Metin (Meh-Tin)

I really like Emre and Evren. I think I am drawn to them because of the current trend in British names to have names beginning with vowels which I do like. I think those names are softer sounding too.

What nice names. I would have guessed pronunciation correctly for all of them I think, but I suspect that Metin might cause a few problems with people not sure if the first syllable is Mee or Meh?

I like Evren and Levent best, probably Evren more. I like the sound it makes! I suspect Emre would be misspelt often.

To my non-Turkish ears, I think Emre is absolutely lovely. I also quite like Evren.

In fact the only one I'm not keen on is Metin, being too close in sound to Martin - I think it would cause confusion.

Emre and Evren are lovely and I think easy to pronounce.
Metin to me sounds like 'my tin' in an accent which I'm not keen on.

I love Levent, Emre and Evren. Metin sounds too much like Martin (a name I don't like) or the words 'met in...'. The other three are very lovely.

I like the sound of Evren best. I wouldn't have trouble pronouncing any of them once I had heard them (or seen the phonetics as you've posted) I think I would have got them fairly close anyway.
As others have said not sure if Metin might get a bit muddled with Martin

ADORE Levent, slightly wish we'd come across it when we were naming our DS! Levent, Evren, Emre would be my top 3, in that order. Lovely lovely names OP.

Not so keen on Metin, which I think I'd be tempted to pronounce the French way if I didn't have any context. Evren is lovely, but Emre and Levent are also nice.

I teach a lot of Turkish children and I've always liked the names Can (Jan) and Emre, so definitely Emre. They've also all been really nice children!
