I like this, my first thought is the Opera but OH said 'Carmen Electra?'

What do you think?

I haven't heard of Carmen Electra before (just looked her up).

Elektra is an opera too Smile

Carmen makes me think of "car" and "men" put together.

It's quite a nice name and not overused.

Really lovely name!

I like that. People will always jump to something unless it's a completely out there name. There may even be others than just those two.

As a child I was always asked if I was named after a specific celebrity. Not always the same one. My name isn't uncommon though. Don't let it put you off. It's a beautiful name. Smile

I love it. It is my DDs name. It was the only name my DH and I liked also on our first date we watched Carmen the opera. DD is the only carmen in her school.

I like it, I used to work with a lovely Australian lady called Carmen.

Soprano or Miranda?
No, just no.

Really wanted a kid called this when I was little! Sounded so exotic. Still love it but think it would be ridiculous on my spawn who are as fair as snow.

Carmen Electric here too. Didn't Prince go out with her and make the name up for her too.

My DD is Carmen. She's white blonde and blue eyed. It works internationally. It was about the name meaning (song, garden) for me plus family connections with singing, plus the opera, plus I grew up in the era of Carmen Electra so it was associated with attractiveness to me. It seemed womanly and strong, not a cutesy pie dog type name. And everyone can spell it, unlike my name. Only negatives we've had are people saying 'Carmel? Karma?' so now we just say 'like the opera' and it's fine.

Sounds too much like "karma" for me. I know a few Carmens and even more Carmels and I've never been able to warm to this name.
