Really started to grow on me. What are your thoughts?

Between Rory and Louie at the moment. Can not seem to agree on any other names so new suggestions would be helpfulsmile

I really like Rory.

I like Louis more, but it has to be spelt like that for me.

Great names.

I know quite a few friends who have chosen the name Rory recently. Personally I really don't like it, but you would be in good company if you did choose I'm sure. Popular without being overused.

Pressed Post too soon!

I really like Louie, great name

I love it - dh vetoed it for ds and I was gutted.

A tradesman came to our house last week and he was called Rory - it's such a friendly name to introduce yourself as!

MrsCaecilius Thu 04-Aug-16 13:24:14

I prefer Rory. I associate someone strong and fun with that name. I find Louie a bit wet for some reason.

DerelictMyBalls Thu 04-Aug-16 13:31:16

Rory is nice, I don't think it will ever become too popular.

ApocalypseSlough Thu 04-Aug-16 13:36:07

I can't say Rory. Waweee blush
Louis is lovely or Lewis, but that spelling reminds me of one of Donald Duck's nephews.

Lorelaiandrory Thu 04-Aug-16 13:37:51

Makes me think of Rory from Gilmore Girls - so in my head it is a female name.

parisgellar Thu 04-Aug-16 13:39:27

Love it! My DS is named Ruairí, Irish version.

panegyricS1 Thu 04-Aug-16 13:43:13

Rory - a strong and stylish name. Love it.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Thu 04-Aug-16 13:48:45

It may be a female name in your head, Lorelei, but in the UK and Ireland Rory is just about always a boy's name. I like it and prefer it to Louis. Agree that Louis is a far better spelling than Louie.

OrlandaFuriosa Thu 04-Aug-16 13:58:04

Love it. The nn for Roderick, which I also love. Both can be spelled English or Gaelic or Erse.

heron98 Thu 04-Aug-16 14:01:09

Love it. One of my favourite boys' names.

leedsladyx Thu 04-Aug-16 14:18:15

Thanks for all the useful feedback everyone. Coming to think of it I do prefer the spelling Louis. We know a Louis and it is pronounced Lewis, which is DH point, With the spelling Louie, no one can really go wrong! I agree Louis looks much better written down.

Rory is definitely my favourite at the moment, however DH is not too keen and prefers Louie with this spelling.

I can see us never agreeing!hmm

Love the name Rory.
The one I know has family members Aidan and Calvin.

SorenaJ Thu 04-Aug-16 15:38:48

Love Rory, and prefer that to Louie.

DramaAlpaca Thu 04-Aug-16 16:42:47

I love Rory, it's one of my favourite names.

RockinHippy Thu 04-Aug-16 16:54:38

I don't dislike it, but it has become a very popular dogs name around here, so that puts me off

Greenteandchives Thu 04-Aug-16 16:58:01

I love it but wasn't brave enough to use it, some years ago. Wish I had. I liked Lionel too. Bit of a theme developing there...

LunaLoveg00d Thu 04-Aug-16 17:31:43

I have a Rory. His name was practically unheard of when he was born as we lived in London at the time, since moving back to Scotland there are lots of Rory, Ruari or Ruaraidh and other variants around. But all of them male!!

CodewordRochambeau Thu 04-Aug-16 23:18:24

In Gilmore Girls, Rory isn't the character's given name - it's a nickname for Lorelai to distinguish her from her mum, who has the same name. It's definitely a boys' name, even to Gilmore Girls fans.

peggyblackett Thu 04-Aug-16 23:22:33

Rory is fabulous - I love it!

Really not keen on Louie or Louis.

Cahu58 Thu 04-Aug-16 23:30:01
