Am I being mad?

Willing to be told it's pregnancy hormones but I'm really warming to this name.

I even like Bo as a nn.

It's a bit silly - what if she is shy and retiring?

Well Dontrock

Not all Mary's are eternal virgins and that doesn't seem to cause too many problems Wink

You're kidding right?

Why not choose a normal name, I don't get this 'unusual' name obsession people have!

Don't forget the name is forever, and they will be 50 one day Hmm

Bear in mind that the correct pronunciation is 'boo-deek-wuh': deek rhymes with 'geek' and wuh sounds like 'what'.

So the natural shortening would be 'Boo' rather 'Bo'.

But seriously, very few women/girls could successfully pull of a name like Boudicca. Don't do it. How about Beatrice?

ROFL Grin
Just when I think I've seen the most ridiculous suggestion for a baby name another one comes along.

Nothing wrong with naming your dd for a strong female role model. Maybe not that one...

I met one, also nicknamed Bo. She was lovely.

How is it different from other King/queen names?

I have Boudicca on a high, nearly-out-of-sight-shelf in my living room. She is a peg doll that my youngest DD made in primary school when they were all studying history.

She looks a right sight... but as with all the other childhood stuff (weird pottery shapes, including an Egyptian sarcophagus, I can't quite bring myself to consign her to the bin (yet).

A university friend of mine told me 30-odd years ago that he knew a brother and sister (I had thought twins) called Caractacus and Boudicca. I've just searched and found this is possible as there are people of about the right age who featured in a news story a few years ago. So your daughter wouldn't be the only one!

Not for a child. Sorry

You can't name a child Boudicca.

How about Victoria?

Report
mooimevrouw · 02/08/2016 17:18

How about just Bo, I know a few and think it's a nice enough name on its own.

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 02/08/2016 17:20

No, if not Boudicca it will probably just be boring old Romilly...,

Romilly is lovely!

I love the name, but only if you are planning to homeschool your child til she's 30. She will be mercilessly tormented when her class learn about the Romans and Celts in primary school!

If someone can shorten it to Dick, sorry Dicc, they will.
