Am I overthinking these initials?

So if baby is a boy, our preferred first and middle names would result in the initials ALS. Should we avoid this? We could add a second middle name, but it feels odd to do this just to dilute the initials. Really can't decide whether or not I'm being silly here. Thanks!

Completely over thinking confused

OlennasWimple Sun 31-Jul-16 20:03:57

I don't get it confused

MrsJoeyMaynard Sun 31-Jul-16 20:05:46

Not seeing a problem with ALS confused

Just avoid S.H.I.T or A.R.S.E and you'll be just fine, op <pats head>

Don't get it, the only ALS I can think of is the disease sometimes called Lou Gehrig disease that the ice bucket challenge was about.

Seems fine to me, our DS initials spell OAT but we didn't even realise (unsure what he'd be called, changed plans when he was born) and it has never been an issue yet

Eh? I'm not getting it. Do you mean it sounds like the shortened version of Alastair. As in that's Al's suitcase?

My initials spell GLAM...

Just saying smile

I think it's fine and wouldn't have even thought about it if you hadn't asked.

I was wondering the same about a name that we were considering.
First two initials would be E.T.
Dh thinks I am being silly. Maybe I am?

I know a little boy who's name is Peter Andrew Ross N (surname)

I almost wish they'd gone for Oliver not Andrew ;)

Yes, the disease and so negative connotations. Just thought he might feel a bit odd about it when he's older. But my hormones are all over the place at the moment! I actually think ET is quite cute.

Could have been worse - could have been JLS!!!

DH is German, and our surname starts with and S. I must admit to vetoing any first names starting with S as I thought half german children with the initials SS may come in for some teasing at school when they learn about WW2 grin

ChaChaChaCh4nges Sun 31-Jul-16 20:42:52

I didn't know there was a disease called ALS confused

Moonrocks6 Sun 31-Jul-16 20:43:52

I actually think ET is quite cute
I just have visions of child being told to phone home.

It's so tricky, isn't it? Everytime I think we have it sorted I think of something that puts me off.

I think it's fine, don't worry.

Fwiw we avoided giving our daughter the first 3 initials SLA in case she decided to change her surname later in life and didn't want to run the risk of being SLAG or SLAP... Not sure if we overthought it.

My nephew has the initials P.I.S. but so far no-one seems to have taken it...

Doinmummy Mon 01-Aug-16 00:11:04

My DD initials are ARLS . I don't think it will be a problem .

WhingyNinja Mon 01-Aug-16 00:41:51

My daughters initials are EMU! If anyone dares call her 'big bird' as she grows up I will wring their necks! grin
