Baby names

Clara or Charlotte?

DH and I have narrowed it down to two name choices for DD2, but can't choose between Clara and Charlotte. Middle name will be Juliette. DH likes Clara, as do I, but I think I prefer Charlotte. The problem is, one of the only boys names we like is Charlie, and we can't have a Charlotte and a Charlie if we ever have a boy in the future, can we? She would almost definitely go by Lottie, but in the future we run the risk of having two Charlies.

Her older sister is Lucie Aurélie - DH is French, it means "golden light." Which name do you prefer and what are your opinions?

I prefer Clara to Charlotte. It goes better with your chosen middle name too, as Charlotte Juliette is a bit too heavy on the -tte endings.

Save Charlie for a son. Smile

I would have said Charlotte but with the mn being Juliette. I'd say Clara. Clara Juliette just rolls of the tongue, where as Charlotte is very harsh.

Clara.

Charlotte Juliette doesn't work, really. And I prefer the name Clara.

That said, I think Clara and Charlie are too similar for siblings as well.

Clara is gorgeous. I do like Charlotte too, but far prefer Clara. Also probably wouldn't want a Charlotte and a Charles as siblings personally so might avoid that if you're thinking of using Charles in the future.

Clara.

With Juliette, Charlotte just doesn't flow as well.

I'm biased as I have a Charlotte, but do agree that Clara works better with Juliette. Are there any alternative middle names? If you really love Charlotte I'd go with it. If you ever go on to have a boy you will surely come up with something else.

Clara goes much better with Juliette as a middle name than Charlotte does.

I prefer Charlotte, but Clara Juliette is better as Charlotte Juliette is just too much "tte".

How many times will she be called Charlotte juliette out loud? Probably never. So I wouldn't worry about that. And it doesn't sound bad anyway

Charlotte is much nicer. Clara I think will end up being a bit Tracey/Sharon esque

My daughter is a Charlotte and obviously, I think it's a beautiful name Her name was never shortened until she met her husband who calls her Lottie bobs.
Clara is such a pretty name and I'm sure I can speak for pps. When I chose the name Charlotte, it was unusual, but rather prolific now.
Clara is still unusual and just so pretty sounding.

I prefer Charlotte but I think Clara goes better with Juliette. Although, as a ppsaid, how many times will you be saying the names together?

I prefer Charlotte to Clara. However I really don't think Charlotte flows well with Juliette.

I prefer Charlotte, it's more classic and has various nickname potential but Clara goes better with your chosen middle name

I prefer Charlotte but agree it doesn't flow with Juliette. Lots of Clara's at the minute too.
Charlotte Julia maybe? Charlotte Julianne?

I thought according to your other post that there were 4 older female siblings?

Pick whatever name you love now for this child because A) you might not have another child and B) If you do have another you might not have a boy.
