Harvey or Tobias?

It would be their choice whether to go by the nickname Toby!

Cheers x

I love Tobias! X

Harvey

Tobias, it's unusual without being weird. Harvey is more common and I like names you don't hear often.

BoboBunnyH0p Sat 02-Jul-16 16:06:13

Prefer Tobias, Harvey just reminds me of Harveys furniture land, sorry.

sonlypuppyfat Sat 02-Jul-16 16:07:04

Tobias it's proper manly

Cjamm Sat 02-Jul-16 16:09:21

I prefer Tobias

MrsGsnow18 Sat 02-Jul-16 16:19:44

I also prefer Tobias! It's unusual but lovely and yes I agree with above that it sounds manly. Toby is also lovely.
Harvey is nice too but I think it's more commonly used as a name and I've even known it as a surname.

Thank you everyone for your opinions on the names! I do think Tobias is the one 😃 Toby is a good nickname for a child and teenager but then Tobias as an adult! Thanks everyone!

Harvey

Toby is actually getting pretty common. Nice name, but don't go for it because it's unusual.
Toby/Tobias together with the other t name Theo may well be racing up the charts soon.

Harvey.

I like Toby, but have never warmed to Tobias for some reason (might be the "bias" sound in it).

clarka Sat 02-Jul-16 21:56:40

I think Tobias is lovely and Toby is a great nickname. Harvey is nice but not as good imo.

RiverTam Sat 02-Jul-16 21:57:29

Tobias, though I really don't like Toby.

SaveSomeSpendSome Sat 02-Jul-16 21:59:13

Im not keen on either but if i had to choose i would go for Harvey

flutterworc Sat 02-Jul-16 22:02:04

Tobias. Taught too many naughty Harveys!

ShortcutButtons Sat 02-Jul-16 22:06:50

Harvey just makes me think of Katie Price/Jordan.

So it's Tobias for me

Mrsw28 Sat 02-Jul-16 22:08:18

Tobias, it's a good name, manly too, I'm sure you could nickname as something other than Toby too, just T for example.

Harvey is not manly, it reminds me of stuffed toys and an unkind, spoilt child I taught.

Just5minswithDacre Sat 02-Jul-16 22:10:17

Tobias

Just5minswithDacre Sat 02-Jul-16 22:12:49

Oh and 'why'?

Because Tobias was the protagonist of a reading scheme I devoured when I was 5. He was great.

More seriously because Tobias sounds bookish, open and fresh faced to me. Harvey sounds like a thrusting executive.

akorda Sat 02-Jul-16 22:24:25

Sorry but neither

Harvey just doesn't sound nice to me and Toby/Tobias has been made very stale for me by the many babies with that name around where I live-South East.

So maybe some alternative suggestions, kind of with the same "Tobias" vibe:

Ferdinand (Ferdy)
Gregory (Gregor)
Lucien
Torin
Malachi (Mal)
Any of these appeal?

Enjoy the journey!

Harvey.
Tobias makes me think of the character in arrested development.

Lindt70Percent Sun 03-Jul-16 20:59:00

Tobias.

I'm not keen on Harvey because I think of it as a surname and I also know 3 dogs called Harvey.

I much prefer Tobias/Toby. Tobias is sophisticated and interesting. Toby is cool and manly. Harvey (imo) is nowhere near as classy or intelligent-sounding.

LolaStarr Mon 04-Jul-16 19:24:26

Tobias but I really don't like Toby for some reason blush
