CatThiefKeith Thu 30-Jun-16 16:28:44

Not in the circles I move in I'm afraid, no. Sorry op.

Vixxfacee Thu 30-Jun-16 16:34:31

Elton John's kids have nice names Zachary and Elijah.

NavyAndWhite Thu 30-Jun-16 17:34:41

Good lord NO.

ShatnersBassoon Thu 30-Jun-16 17:37:11

I'm a BIG Elton Welsby fan, so I say go for it.

Beanzmeanzcoffee Thu 30-Jun-16 17:37:38

No

SweetieDrops Thu 30-Jun-16 17:37:47

Well Elton from clueless wasn't a very nice character.

Sabistick Thu 30-Jun-16 17:39:19

Go for your second choice.

Beanzmeanzcoffee Thu 30-Jun-16 17:39:57

Just realised that sounded like I was saying no, it isn't unusable. In reality Elton will instantly make 99% of people think of Elton John. Rightly or wrongly I think it would set him up for a lifetime of teasing.

Raines100 Thu 30-Jun-16 18:15:57

I think it's a bit like Elvis or Madonna or Jesus. There's only one Elton.

Sophronia Thu 30-Jun-16 18:29:13

How about Alton, Alvin, Albin or Ellis instead?

MitzyLeFrouf Thu 30-Jun-16 20:29:13

Nooooooooo!! Sorry.

...........seems to beeeee the hardest word.

MitzyLeFrouf Thu 30-Jun-16 20:31:48

OP imagine how boring it would be to be asked 'oh were your parents big Elton John fans?' 70 million times.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup Thu 30-Jun-16 20:55:42

I LOVE an unusual name and this is my first ever DEAR GOD NO on Mumsnet! Sorry.

peppercold Thu 30-Jun-16 21:00:16

You could call him Benny or Daniel wink

IoraRua Fri 01-Jul-16 13:26:26

Dear holy jaysus and mary, no. It's like naming a baby Shakira. Setting him up for endless renditions of Candle in the Wind there

Eldar is lovely though and not too far off it.

1horatio Fri 01-Jul-16 13:50:07

It's a bit like naming a kid Madonna...

And what if the LO doesn't even end up liking the singer?

I personally would not do it. Unless this is truly the only name you can agree on. But there are worse names...

TooTweeOrNotTooTwee Fri 01-Jul-16 13:53:50

Surprisingly, it is quite a popular boys name in Sweden at the moment irrelevant fact

NataliaOsipova Fri 01-Jul-16 13:56:52

My friend called her baby bump Elton. And another called hers Luke Skywalker. Neither is really a good name for a child....sorry!

DerelictMyBalls Fri 01-Jul-16 19:07:46

How about Elroy?

Ankleswingers Fri 01-Jul-16 19:10:08

Never. Ever. Not in a million years.

MrsJoeyMaynard Fri 01-Jul-16 19:11:33

The only association I have with this is Elton John
