I know I asked for comments on a few of these a while back, but list has grown rather than shortened as time goes on! Help me whittle it down. What name would you a) put at the top b) strike off! Thanks.

Lucy
Naomi
Rose
Isobel
Eve
Chloe
Iris
Freya
Fern
Coral
Coralie
Holly
Poppy
Rowan
Iona
Miranda

I think that your whole list is lovely but it depends if being uncommon is important to you? I teach and have three children so a fairly good idea of what is popular at the moment (SE)

So, my top five would be:

Naomi (although I never know whether to say Nigh or Nay)
Miranda
Lucy
Coralie (although I am not totally convinced)
Rose

For me, at the moment, I would rule out Isobel, Eve, Chloe, Iris, Freya, Holly and Poppy as just being too popular. (and I say that having been oh so original naming my 2006 baby Ava!)

Oh and Rose too!

Thanks petitdonkey. It's good to know what's popular as sometimes it can pass you by! On that note, I suppose we're looking for something not so popular that there are 4 in her class, but not so unusual as to require explanation/comment. Fern and Coralie are probably out for that reason, just couldn't resist keeping them on the list! Thanks again x

Lovely names. My favourites are:
Chloe
Fern
Rose

Not keen on Coral/Coralie

I agree with petitdonkey on the very popular names, if that's something that concerns you. I don't think Fern or Coralie are remotely way out or in need of comment or explanation. Coralie is much the nicest name on your list. I think Chloe has a dated, rather 1990s ring to it these days, and Fern is grandmotherly in a non-chic 'nice talc set for Christmas' way. I would put Coralie, Rowan and Miranda on top.

Love. In order.
Chloe
Poppy
Naomi
Isobel
Holly
Rose.
Iona.
Miranda

Not keen on

Iris
Rowan
Coralie
Fern
Eve.

Top name. Chloe, quite unusual now.
Strike off. Rowan.

I like Naomi, Iris, Rowan and Iona.

The others are really popular other than Coral Coralie, Fern and Miranda which I don't really like.

I would avoid a popular name too, having given my 8 year old one that is now insanely popular'

Eve at the top
Miranda cross off

Top names:

  • Lucy
  • Naomi (be aware that she'll probably get nome (gnome) or nomie for short, though)
  • Chloe
  • Poppy
  • Rose

Cross off:
  • Isobel
  • Eve
  • Fern
  • Coral
  • Iona

Also, possibly cross of Miranda because of the horrible nicknames (Randy?). I like the full name, but the nicknames are... not great.
