Amy. Simple and unpretentious. Very pretty name by the way (however you spell it).

Amy. Make life easier on her! No point messing with a lovely name for no good reason. Congratulations!

Any reason not one of the other two?

Amy

For the same reason as Anna

Because people will not manage to get the less "traditional" spelling right, and the child will have countless birthday cards, invitations, school forms etc addressed to the wrong spelling of her name. ask me how I know

I'm an Amy :)

Both other options look like you don't know how to spell Amy.

Amy.

I really dislike the ee of the other two also I am meant to have a French accent mark on my name, I have never used it!

I love the spelling Aimee (don't bother with the accent, no one will use it) BUT a family member who has that spelling has it constantly spelt Amy anyway...even on by friends commenting on her FB page when her name is right there Hmm She also used to moan on holiday that she could never get tacky merchandise with it on hahaha.

So yeah, maybe go with Amy Grin

Amy. That's how everybody will assume it's spelt so save the child a lifetime of having to say "and that's spelt ..."

I have a friend with an Aimee but she pronounces it am-ay. It's the French way apparently Hmm

I'm an Aimée, nobody ever spells it right let alone adds the accent, pared with an unusual last name and I spend most days spelling them both out

BoneyBackJefferson · 22/06/2016 20:43

if you are fussy about how the name is spelt, don't use the last one as the umlaut will pretty much always be left out and you will be left with the second spelling.

Sis is an Aime(accent)e. Sorry couldn't figure it out. As a kid she hated not having something with her name on in but as a teenager and much prefers her spelling. Sure people spell it wrong in hotels etc but she just ignores it and doesn't bother her. When she does spell it outloud the inevitable comment is "oh what a lovely way to spell it"

Aimee

Because I went to school with one and it's automatically the first way I would spell it now.
